Fantasy: “The Last Ember”

The Kingdom of Caelwyn had been dark for a century. When the Fire God turned his face from the
world, the Eternal Flame in the capital died, and with it, the warmth of summer.

But Elira, a stable girl, kept a secret. Hidden in her locket, passed down from her grandmother, was a
single ember—still warm, still alive.

When her village was threatened by frostwolves, Elira’s locket burst open. Fire surged from her
hands, banishing the beasts.

Word spread. The last ember. The fireborn girl.

Summoned to the ruined palace, Elira faced the icy throne where the Frost King waited.

“You carry my brother’s spark,” he hissed.

“I carry hope,” she said.

And as flames danced from her palms, the ice began to crack.
