1. According to H.C. Buck : “P.E. is the part of general education programme, which is considered
with growth, development and education of children through the medium of big muscles
activities. It is the education of whole child by means of P.E. activities. Physical activities are the
tools. They are so selected and conducted as to influence by every child’s life physically,
mentally, emotionally and normally”.
2. According to C.A. Bucher : “An integral part of total education process which has its aim – the
development of physically mentally, emotionally, socially fit citizen through the medium of
physical activities which have been selected with a view to realizing there out comes”.
3. According to D. Oberteuffer : “P.E. is the some of those experience which come to the
individuals through movements”.
4. According to J.B. Nash : “P.E. is that phase of the whole field of education that deals with big
muscles activities and their related response.
The above career mentioned in the field of P.E are described below .
1. Teaching Career in P.E. : The teaching career offer many reward to the teacher whether
they are engaged in elementary school, middle school high school, Sr. Secondary School,
College or University level. This career provides internal satisfaction. Teaching opportunities
in the field of physical education of different level are described as follows :
A. Elementary School : P.E. is compulsory elementary schools in advanced countries of the
world. In elementary students learnt running, jumping, climbing throwing, catching,
kicking, etc.
B. Middle School : It is separate for class vi, vii, viii. In government middle schools, there
are rare opportunities of employment for P.E. In some schools where teaches of physical
education are employed, they are required to teach other subject. Middle school jobs in
field of P.E. are not sufficient.
C. High School : There are a number of opportunities for jobs in the field of P.E. in
government and private/public high school. They are required to teach theory and
practical of P.E. They also prepare team for inter school competitions.
D. Senior Secondary Level : In this category, lecture in P.E. are appointed to teach theory.
P.E. is an optional subject. There teachers are maintain discipline in the school.
E. College and University : There are many job opportunities to teach P.E. in college and
university. There are various, professionals course in P.E.– such as.
CPED (Certificate Course in P.E.)
DPED (Diploma in P.E.)
BPED (Bachelor Degree in P.E.)
MPED (Master in P.E.) or MA in P.E.)
M.phil, P.hd in physical education in associated with university and some college. NET
in P.E. to teach P.E. in college.
2. Coaching Career in P.E. : It is a traditional career in the field of P.E. many coaches want to
dual career as a teacher and coach. Opportunities of sobs are available to coach in middle
school, high school, senior secondary school. He/she may be appointed as a coach to a team.

3. Health Related Career : The very first and significant area under health related. Careers in
health and weight control clubs. The clubs are bored on the individual’s desire to be
physically fit to have a slim and trim figure and to look the best. It has become a big industry.
4. As Players : A large no. Of sport persons participate in various games and sports through and
the world. They participate various level-such as inter school or college, district level, state
level, national, international level, Olympic level etc. But only highly skilled reformers reach
to the top level. Many sobs are available in India for sports person in government/private
sector, defense sector, bank, railways, etc. The professional players ‘New York Yankie’get
highest salary in the world.
5. Officials : The smooth conduct of tournament on competition depends on good officials.
Such type of jobs opportunities are available as part-time officials and full time officials.
There are various officials in a tournament. Such as referee or umpire, time keeper, time
keeper, recorder etc. Even college student earn some income by officiating in inter college
sport competitions.
6. Sports Journalism : Physical education, who have a talent for writing may opt. Career as a
sport journalist. The sport journalist may get opportunities to work with newspaper and in
sport magazines and coverage sport news as well as the number of newspaper and Magazines
is increasing rapidly.
7. Book Writing : Some physical education, who have keep knowledge of various sub
disciplines of physical educations. This field also requires interest concentration and writing
talent.
8. Sport Photography : This career is applicable only to those physical educators who have a
keen interest in photography and a strong desire to communicate to public the free meaning
of sports through photograph.
9. Marketing : Career in marketing and selling of sports equipment are challenging ones
salaries of marketing manner, sales representatives and sales persons depend on the sale of
the product opportunities of jobs for marketing managers and sales person will definitely
increase.
10. Book Publishing : The people who are knowledge about the field of P.E. editorial workers
are needed who are familiar with the demand of publication in area related to P.E. and sports.
There person should have sales ability and an understanding of the available markets for
publication in the field of P.E. and sports.
11. Khelo India Program and Fit India Movement : Khelo India Programme has bee
introduced to revive the sports culture in India at the grass root level by building a strong
framework for players. The programme was a strong frame work for players. The programme
was launched during 2017-18 by Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.
Above objectives, the Khelo India Programme has included the following components :
Explanation :
(1) Play Filed Development : Under the programme of Khelo India, many fields will be
developed at various state and district.
(2) Community Coaching Development : It involves in skill development and certification
system for sports coaching.
(3) State Level Khelo India Centers : It involves in supporting better utilization of sports
infrastructure in relation to the state, Union Territories (UT).
(4) Annual Sport Competitions : It is one of the Significant components of Khelo India
Programme. Such competitions will be organized in various games such as athletics,
boxing, basketball, etc. Except cricket.
(5) Talent Search and Development : To the selection of prize winners for the scheme, a
talent identification committee will spot and identify talent player
(6) Utilization and Creation/Upgrading of Sports Infrastructure : It aims at developing
sports infrastructure at school college and university.
(7) Support to National/Regional/State Sport Academics : It aims to provide resources for
long term athlete long term programme.
(8) Physical Fitness of School Going Children : It aims to develop physical fitness of
school going children.
(9) Sport for Women : It aims to ensure participating of women is various sports
competition especially where women participation in less.
(10) Promotion of Sports for CWSN : It aims to promote sports for divyang persons.
(11) Sport for Peace and Development : Government of India to provides trends to
organize sports activities in various states.
(12) Promotion or Rural and Tribal Games : Annual games competitions will be
organized in rural and tribal games alternately to enhance sports participation in such
games
Khelo India Programme, A high-powered committee will identify talent sports person and 5
lackrupees will be granted per annum for eight years.
Fit India Movement : It Introduced on 29 August 2019 by horrible Prime minister of India
Shri Narendra Modiji of Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi.
Fit India Movement was launched on the occasion of birth anniversary of Major Dhyan
Chand India Hockey legend. The programme include there age group.
