Adverbial Clauses with "So That" and "So...

That

1. Using "So That"

 "so that" introduces an adverbial clause showing purpose.


 Example Structure:
o Main Clause + "so that" + Verb in the Same Tense.

Examples:

o Incorrect: She wanted them to study hard so that they can get good jobs.
o Correct: She wanted them to study hard so that they could get good jobs.

2. Using "So... That"

 "so… that" introduces an adverbial clause showing result.


 Example Structure:
o Main Clause + "so [adjective/adverb] that" + Result Clause.

Examples:

o Adjective: Lina is so charming that everyone likes her.


o Adverb: Lina behaves so charmingly that everyone likes her.

Example Set 1: Using "So That"

1. Incorrect: He faked illness so that he could stay home.


o Correction Activity: Discuss why it works here.
2. Correct: They finished their homework so that they could go out to play.
3. Correct: I studied all night so that I would pass the exam.

Example Set 2: Using "So... That"
