Reverse saturation current:
Here, Reverse Saturation current, Is= 98.155 uA
Diode breakdown voltage:
Diode breakdown voltage for D1N4002 is= -99.802 V.
V1 = 10 V :

Circuit Diagram:

Diode Current, ID = 9.312 mA.

RD= (V2-V1)/(I2-I1)
RD= (488.929-489.342)/(194.656-196.350)*103 = 243.8 Ohm
VTD = V1-I1* (V1-V2) / (I1-I2)= 488.88 mV

Circuit Diagram with Zener Diode:

Diode breakdown voltage for D1N4002 is= -4.5322 V.
Reverse saturation current= 1.7079 mA

Changing V2 from -1V to 4V :

The magnitude of the output circuit is increasing according to

the increase in the magnitude of V2.
When V2 = -5V

Outpu voltaget is constant at -3.5V. During positive half cycle

D1 is conducting and output voltage is -5+VD. During negative
half cycle D1 remains conducting up to -5 volt and when D1
goes beyond -5 volt D1 becomes cutoff and then D2 becomes
conducting. So, output is -2 VD. So Output voltage remains
constant.

Changing V2 from -1V to 4V:
Output voltage when R1 = 250 Ohm, C1 = 1uF and V2 = 0V:

When R1 = 250 ohms and V2 = 0 V , the resultant graph

was different from previous ones. As the value of the
source was 0V, the input signal couldn’t be clamped like
before. From the graph, there was a flat portion. The flat
portion occurred as a result of low time constant of the
capacitor, RC. As a result, when the diode was cutoff
state, the capacitor held on to its voltage. So, there was
a flat portion in the graph.
Using Square Waves:
When there was a square wave signal, the capacitor
kept on releasing charge and at the time of negative
cycle a flat portion was found.

Discussion:

In this experiment, we saw the I-V characteristics of

a Diode. Breakdown voltage and reverse saturation
current was calculated. We saw the application of Zener
Diode. We learned and simulated Clipper and Clamper
circuits. Sine wave and Pulse wave were simulated. We
constructed Full Wave rectifier circuit and simulated it
with and without load resistance. We also added
Capacitor and Zener diode and simulated its output. So,
the experiment was successfully completed and
simulation and explanation are added with the report.
