Types of Triangles

The document outlines various types of polygons, specifically focusing on triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, octagons, heptagons, nonagons, and decagons. Each type is defined by the number of sides and angles, with specific properties such as the sum of interior angles. Additionally, it distinguishes between regular and irregular forms of these polygons.

TYPES OF TRIANGLES

CONTENT OF POLYGON

There are five types of polygon

WE CAN ALSO CLASSIFY BY THERE SIDES

 TRANGLES: IT HAS THREE SIDES.

 QUADRILATERAL: IT HAS FOUR SIDES.
 PENTAGON: IT HAS FIVE SIDES.
 HEXAGON: IT HAS SIX SIDES.
 OCTAGON: IT HAS EIGHT SIDES.
 HEPTAGON: IT HAS SEVEN SIDES.
 NONAGON: IT HAS NINE SIDES.
 DECAGON: IT HAS TEN SIDES.
TRIANGLES

 A TRIANGLE IS A THREE SIDED POLYGON THAT CLOSES IN A SPACE.

 It uses lines, line segments or rays (in any combination) to form the three sides.
 When three sides form and meet, they create three vertices or corners.
 The corners inside the triangle are interior angles.
 The sum of all internal angles of a triangle is always equal to 180o.
 A triangle is defined as a three-sided two-dimensional figure whose interior angles are
equal to 180°.
 Triangle is a flat geometric figure that has three sides and three angles.
Quadrilaterals

 Quad means “four” & Lateral means “sides”.

 Any Four-Sided shape is a Quadrilateral.
 In geometry, a quadrilateral can be defined as a closed, two-dimensional shape which
has four straight sides.
 Quadrilateral is define as “A flat shape with four sides”.
 A rectangle is an example of quadrilateral which is a four-sided where every angle is a
right angle (900).
 The sum of interior angles is 3600.
 A quadrilateral that does not fit into any example of quadrilateral is called an irregular
quadrilateral.
 There are five types of quadrilaterals-Rectangle, Square, Parallelogram, Trapezium or
Trapezoid, Isosceles Trapezoid and Kite.

Pentagon

 A pentagon shape is a flat shape or a flat (two-dimensional) 5-sided

geometric shape
 It is considered as a five-sided polygon with five straight sides and five interior
angles, which add up to 540°.
 A self-intersecting regular pentagon (or star pentagon) is called a pentagram.
 A pentagon shape is a flat shape or a flat (two-dimensional) 5-sided
geometric shape.
 Pentagons can be simple or self-intersecting.
 A pentagon is a polygon with five straight sides and five angles.
 ‘Penta’ is Greek word for five and ‘gonia’ is the Greek word for angle.
 Irregular Pentagon is a shape that has five sides and internal angles that are not
equal.
Hexagon

 A hexagon is a closed 2D shape that is made up of straight lines.

 It is a two-dimensional shape with six sides, six vertices, and six edges.
 The total of the internal angles of any simple (non-self-intersecting) hexagon is 720°.
 A hexagon is a polygon with 6 sides.
 One of the best real life example of hexagon is honeycomb.

 The two-dimensional shape has 6 sides, 6 vertices and 6 angles.

 All the interior angles measure 120°.

Octagon

 In geometry, an octagon is a polygon that has 8 sides and 8 angles.

 All sides are equal in length of octagon.
 The sum of the interior angles of an octagon is equal to 1080 degrees.
 An octagon that does not have any congruent sides or congruent angles is an irregular octagon.
 An irregular Octagon has eight unequal sides and eight unequal angles.
 It is an octagon with unequal sides and angles.
 All the angles are different in measurement, but the sum is always 1080º.
Heptagon

 A heptagon is seven-sided polygon.

 The heptagon is sometimes referred as a septagon.
 The sum of all interior angles is 900°.
 Each interior angle of a heptagon measures 128.571°
 A regular heptagon (with red sides), its longer diagonals (green), and its shorter
diagonals (blue).
 Each of the fourteen congruent heptagonal triangles has one green side, one blue
side, and one red side.

 An irregular shape has sides of different lengths and angles of different sizes.
 A regular shape is a shape, which has equal angles and equal sides - its sides are all
the same length.
NONAGON

 A nonagon is a polygon made up of 9 sides and 9 angles.

 The sum of angles of a nonagon is 1260°
 Regular nonagons have sides of equal length and interior angles of 140 degrees.
 A regular nonagon is a nonagon with all sides of equal length.
 An irregular nonagon is a nonagon with sides of different lengths and angles of
different measures.

Decagon

 A decagon is a polygon with 10 sides and 10 angles.

 Each interior angle of a decagon is 144°.
 The total sum of the interior angles of a simple decagon is 1440°.
 A regular decagon is a decagon with all sides of equal length.
 An irregular decagon has sides and angles that are not all equal or congruent.
