Electronic Devices_Spring 24-25 Semester_OBE Assignment
Compare your ID with AB-CDEFG-H and based on your id, analyze the problems.
Problem 1 # Consider a compact, efficient and safe battery powered LED lamp system in a building. The system takes
power from the mains, 220V AC supply, of the building, and the battery used for powering the lamp is a rechargeable
battery, the voltage of which can fluctuate ± (𝟏𝟎 × 𝑫)% of the constant DC supply feed to the rechargeable battery due to
it’s charging and discharging cycles. Additionally, the system incorporates a stabilizer that will protect the load from
overvoltage and undervoltage condition.
Now, based on the overall scenario described above, you have to identify the devices/circuits necessary to design and
analyze the system that stabilizes the voltage for the lamp, ensuring that they are not damaged by overvoltage or
undervoltage conditions. The diode and lamp output voltage are given below according to your id:
Hints: You may use diode(s), resistor(s), dc source(s), Zener diode(s), transformer (trans ratio, D:1), capacitor(s).
Problem 2 # Design a DC voltage indicator for a rising water level inside a water tank. Your design is responsible for
indicating three levels of water level (empty, half, full). You are responsible for designing the circuit only. Assume that the
higher the water level in the tank, the higher the input voltage to your circuit. You must use Zener diode(s) and may also
use other additional components (it required). All components used must be labelled with realistic values. Justify your
design with necessary circuits/devices including a short explanation (100 words max) that describes the semiconductor
diode principles you applied in your solution.
