A DETAILED LESSON PLAN FOR GRADE 7

Prepared by: Norguiana G. Adam

Topic: Describing Motion: Distance and Displacement Date: February 01, 2024
Grade Level: 7 Timeframe: 1 hour
School: Agriculture High School

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate understanding of motion in one direction.

Performance Standard: The learners should be able to conduct a forum on mitigation
and disaster risk reduction.

displacement, speed or velocity, and acceleration

K to 12 CG Code: S7FE-IIIa-1
I. Intended Learning Outcomes
At the end of the lesson, the students will able to:
a. describe the motion of in terms of distance and displacement;
b. cite an example of motion based on their experience;
c. appreciate the motion through making a Tanka poem.

II. Subject Matter

a. Concept
Motion is an everyday part of life. Without it, no work could be done.
Forces acting on an object may be balanced or unbalanced. This force gives energy
to the object which can either set it in motion, stop its motion, or change its motion
in any way. In other words, many of the things around us move. Some move slowly
like the turtles and clouds, others move much more quickly like the satellites and
rockets. Thus, when we are talking about motion, it seems to be very simple that
can be describe by distance and displacement, speed, velocity, and acceleration.

quarter?” during our second quarter is about
the ecosystem.”

“Very good. Let’s give her/him a Let’s go clap.”

(the students do the let’s go clap)

animals.”
(many students raised their hand)
“Who came earlier in school by walking?”
“it far ma’am, I think it is about
“How far your home from the school?” 500 meters”
“Oh! that good that you know the distance of you home
from school. Thank you for sharing.”

“My last question is what comes in your mind when you “it is the action, the movement of
hear the word motion?” all things.”

“walking, driving car, kicking a

ball, pushing and pulling of door
etc”

“we need a reference point/point of

reference to determine motion.”
ENGAGE (10 minutes) (All students are actively
participated)
“In regards to our topic, I prepared here a quiz 10-items
multiple choice quiz. I want you to answer it by writing
your letter of choice to the separate paper.” (the students do the activity)
(After a while)
Students are you done? Yes ma’am,
“Then let us check you output. Just check your own paper. (the students check their output)
Remember honesty is the best policy.”

EXPLORE (5 minutes) (All students are actively

participated)
“It seems that your score is average. Thus, let’s make
deeper knowledge regarding the motion in terms of
distance and displacement by studying the picture and
answering the succeeding questions. But let me group you
into 5. So, let’s count 1-5. Since you have your groups,
please choose one representative of your group.
Representative please get you copy here. I will give you 5
minutes to do the activity”

(the students do the activity)

Guide questions:
1. How far originally is the car from the tree?
2. Before they started moving, what is the original
distance between the car and the ball?
3. If the car moves a distance of 2 meters in one
second, how far will it be from the tree after 5
seconds?
4. Supposed the ball covers a distance of 1 meter in
one second, how much distance can it cover in 5
seconds?

EXPLAIN (15 minutes) (All students are actively

participated)
“Done! Class we may now start the sharing of your
answer in the class. Take note that while some group are
reporting or sharing their output, other group will listen so

“Alright student you did it! However, it seems that some (the students do the activity)
of you got the right answer, while other are confused.
With that, let me share to you some information about the
distance and the displacement when we are talking about
motion.”

ELABORATE (10 minutes) (All students are actively

participated)
In another 10 minutes, I want you to make a reflection on
what you have learned in today’s lesson. Write your
reflection in ½ sheet of paper. (20 points) (student do the activity)
