(b) Find the greatest number that divides 49 and 39 leaving the remainder 4 in each case.
22. Find the value of 𝑚 for which the pair of linear equation, 2𝑥 + 3𝑦 − 7 = 0 and
(𝑚 − 1)𝑥 + (𝑚 + 1)𝑦 = (3𝑚 − 1) has infinitely many solutions.

23. Find the number of 3 digit-numbers, which leaves a remainder 1, when divided by 3.
24. In figure, 𝐷𝐸 ∥ 𝐵𝐶 and 𝐶𝐷 ∥ 𝐸𝐹. Prove that 𝐴𝐷 2 = 𝐴𝐵 × 𝐴𝐹.

25. (a) Solve for 𝑥: 2√2𝑥 + 1 − 2𝑥 = 1

(b) Find the roots of the quadratic equation 3𝑥 2 − 2√6𝑥 + 2 = 0 by factorization.

26. Prove that (1 + √3) is an irrational number, given that √3 is an irrational number.
27. Prove that “if a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two sides
at two distinct points, then the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.”
28. (a) Five years ago, Nuri was thrice as old as Sonu. Ten years later, Nuri will be twice as old
as Sonu. How old are Nuri and Sonu?

OR
(b) The sum of a two-digit number and the number obtained by reversing the digit is 66.
If the digits of the number differ by 2, find the number.
29. If 𝛼 and 𝛽 are the zeroes of the polynomial 𝑓(𝑥) = 2𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 + 6, then find a quadratic
polynomial whose zeroes are 2𝛼 + 3𝛽 and 2𝛽 + 3𝛼.
30. If (−5) is a root of the quadratic equation 2𝑥 2 + 𝑝𝑥 − 15 = 0 and the quadratic equation
𝑝(𝑥 2 + 𝑥) + 𝑘 = 0 has equal roots, then find the value of 𝑝 and 𝑘.

31. (a) The diagonals of a quadrilateral ABCD intersect each other at the point O such that

Long answer type questions. Each question carries 5 marks
32. Draw the graphs of the equations 𝑥 + 2𝑦 − 1 = 0 and 𝑥 − 2𝑦 + 7 = 0. Determine the
coordinates of the vertices of the triangle formed by these lines and the 𝑥 𝑎𝑥𝑖𝑠 and shade
the triangular region. Also, find the area of triangle.
33. (a) A train travels 360 km at a uniform speed. If the speed had been 5 km/h more, it would
have taken 1 hour less for the same journey. Find the speed of the train.

OR
(b) If the roots of the equation (𝑏 − 𝑐)𝑥 2 + (𝑐 − 𝑎)𝑥 + (𝑎 − 𝑏) = 0, are equal, then prove
that 2𝑏 = 𝑎 + 𝑐.
34. In figure, CD and GH are respectively medians of ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 and ∆𝐸𝐹𝐺. If ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 ∼ ∆𝐹𝐸𝐺.

35. (a) An AP consists of 37 terms. The sum of the three middle most terms is 225 and the
sum of the last three terms is 429. Find the AP.

(b) The sum of 4 consecutive numbers in an AP is 32 and the ratio of the product of the
first and last terms of the product of the two middle terms is 7:15. Find the numbers.

SECTION-E
Case Study (Each question carries 4 marks)
Read the case study-based questions carefully and answer the following:
36. A school is organizing a charity run to raise funds for a local hospital. The run is planned
as a series of rounds around a track, with each round being 300 meters. To make the event
more challenging and engaging, the organizers decide to increase the distance of each
subsequent round by 50 meters. For example, the second round will be 350 meters, the
third round will be 400 meters, and so on. The total number of rounds planned is 10.
Based on the information given above, answer the following:

(i) Write the fourth, fifth, and sixth terms of the arithmetic progression so formed.
(ii) Determine the distance of the 8th round.
(iii) (a) Find the total distance run after completing all 10 rounds.

OR
(b)If a runner completes only the first 6 rounds, what is the total distance covered by
the runner?
37. While playing in a garden, Samaira saw a honeycomb and asked her mother what is that.
Her mother replied that it's a honeycomb made by honey bees to store honey. Also, she told
her that the shape of the honeycomb formed is mathematical structure. The mathematical
representation of the honeycomb is shown in the graph

Based on the above information, answer the following questions:


(i) How many zeros are there for the polynomial represented by the graph given?
Write the zeros of the polynomial.
(ii) Form a quadratic polynomial represented by the graph.
(iii) (a) If the zeros of the polynomial 𝑥 2 + (𝑎 + 1)𝑥 + 𝑏 are 2 and −3 then determine the
values of a and b.

(b) If the square of the difference of the zeros of the polynomial 𝑥 2 + 𝑝𝑥 + 45 is 144
then find the values of p.
38. In the picture given below, one can see a rectangular in-ground swimming pool installed
by a family in their backyard. There is a concrete sidewalk around the pool of width ‘x’m.
The outside edges of the sidewalk measure 7 m and 12 m. The area of the pool is 36 sq. m.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions:


(i) Write the representation of length and breadth of the pool algebraically.
(ii) Form a quadratic equation in terms of x.
(iii) (a) Find the length of the sidewalk around the pool.
OR
(b) Find the width of the sidewalk around the pool.
