13. A plane is flying at a speed of 500 km per hour. Express the distance ‘d’ travelled by the plane as function of time
‘t’ in hours.

14. If the ordered pairs (x − 3x, y + 4y) and (−2, 5) are equal, then find ‘x’ and ‘y’.

15. Let A = {x ∈ N | 1 < x < 4}, B = {x ∈ W | 0 ≤ x < 2} and C = {x ∈ N | x < 3}. Then verify that
i) A × (B ∩ C) = (A × B) ∩ (A × C) ii) A × (B ∪ C) = (A × B) ∪ (A × C)
16. Represent each of the given relations by (a) an arrow diagram, (b) a graph, (c) a set in roster form

18. Forensic scientists can determine the height (in cm) of a person based on the length of the thigh bone. They
usually do so using the function h(b) = 2.47b + 54.10 where b is the length of the thigh bone.
i) Verify the function h is one to one. ii) Also find height of a person if the length of his thigh bone is 50 cm
iii) Find the length of the thigh bone if the height of a person is 147.96 cm.
19. The function ‘t’ which maps temperature in Celsius (C) into temperature in Fahrenheit (F) is defined by t(C) = F,
where F = C + 32. Find i) t(0) ii) t(28) iii) t(−10) iv) the value of C when t(C) = 212
v) the temperature when the Celsius value is equal to the Fahrenheit value.

20. Show that (f ∘ g) ∘ h = f ∘ (g ∘ h), if f(x) = x − 1, g(x) = 3x + 1, h(x) = x .
21. Let A = {1, 2} and B = {1, 2, 3, 4}, C = {5, 6}, D = {5, 6, 7, 8}. Verify whether A × C is a subset of B × D?
IV. Answer the following questions:. 1×8=8

22. a) Construct a triangle similar to a given triangle PQR with it’s sides equal to of the corresponding sides of the

triangle PQR (scale factor > 1). (OR)

b) Construct a triangle similar to a given triangle PQR with it’s sides equal to of the corresponding sides of the

triangle LMN (scale factor < 1).
