ACTIVITY PROPOSAL

Title of the Activity:

"Kalinga at Kamalayan: Strengthening Functional Support Mechanisms and Mental


Wellness in School"

I. RATIONALE
In response to the growing need for a safe, inclusive, and mentally healthy learning environment,
Balinsasayao Elementary School proposes the implementation of a school-wide initiative that
strengthens functional mechanisms (such as the Child Protection Committee, referral systems,
and peer support programs) and promotes mental wellness among learners, teachers, and
stakeholders.

The initiative supports the DepEd Mental Health Program under DO No. 009, s. 2023 and
aligns with national efforts to improve learner well-being, reduce stress, and prevent school-
related mental health issues.

II. OBJECTIVES
This activity aims to:

1. Establish and strengthen functional school-based support systems that protect and
promote mental health.
2. Raise awareness and develop coping skills among learners and teachers to handle stress,
anxiety, and emotional challenges.
3. Promote a culture of empathy, psychological safety, and connectedness.
4. Provide early intervention and referral pathways for learners in need of psychosocial
support.
III. TARGET PARTICIPANTS
 All enrolled learners (Grades 1–6)
 Teaching and non-teaching staff
 Parents and guardians
 Barangay Child Protection and Health Officers
 Guidance advocate (if available)

IV. PROPOSED DATE AND DURATION


 Start: August 2024
 End: March 2025
 Frequency: Monthly major activities; ongoing support mechanisms throughout the
school year

VII. BUDGETARY REQUIREMENTS

VIII. MONITORING AND EVALUATION


 Monthly reporting of activities to the School Head and CPC.
 Use of feedback forms and reflection journals to assess effectiveness.
 Year-end evaluation of mental health and protection outcomes via surveys and incident
reports.
 Submission of final implementation report to the Schools Division Office.

IX. SUSTAINABILITY PLAN


 Institutionalize the wellness activities through the School Improvement Plan (SIP).
 Train class advisers and SPG members as wellness facilitators yearly.
 Partner with local health offices for continued psychosocial services.
 Include mental wellness indicators in school-based monitoring tools.
