A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English VI

(3rd Quarter)

I. Objective: Uses kinds of sentences for a specific purpose and audience in expressing opinions/
emotions. EN6G-IIIe1.8.10

Show tactfulness to others.

II. A. Using Kinds of Sentences for a Specific Purpose and Audience in Expressing Opinions/
Emotions
B. CG in English p. 134, BEAM Distance Learning Program(DLP) English 6 Module 57,
C. powerpoint presentation, pictures, task cards, charts, show-me-board, meta cards, tarpapel,
activity sheets for group activity
D. Concept: Declarative sentence and exclamatory sentence can be used to express
opinions or emotions.

B. 1. Review:
Let the pupils read the sentences and ask:
 What punctuation mark do you see at the end of a sentence?
 What kind of sentence are those?
2. Checking of assignment

C. 1. Motivation:
Ask: Do you have a Facebook account? In facebook, if you like the photos or posts
of your friends, what emoticons do you click?
Show a picture of different emoticons. When do we use these? Why do we use
emoticons when we post or when reacting to someone’s post?

2. Presentation
Today, I am going to read a short passage about Facebook.

But before I read the passage, let us learn first the meaning of these words to
understand the selection better.

Before I read the selection, what are the standards in listening?

5. Reading of the Selection


You will read the selection silently but I will read it orally so that we can start and
end together. (ICT Integration & Araling Panlipunan)

6. Comprehension Check-up
 What is the passage about?
 What is Facebook?
 Why do we use this social media?
 What are the disadvantages of using it?
 As a learner, how does Facebook help you?
 Are you going to post everything about yourself? Why or Why not?
 If you will use Facebook now, what are you going to post? Why? (HOTS)

7. Integration/Infusion of Values:
As a learner, how will you show tactfulness to others?

8. Discussion
Let us read again your answers from the passage. What have you observe with
your answers? What did you observe with this group of sentences? How do we call this
sentence? What does it tell?
How about the other group of sentences? How do we call this one? Why do we use
these kinds of sentences?
Discuss to them how to write sentences and its purpose of writing.

9. Giving of Practice Exercises/Differentiated Activities


Activity 1: Guided Practice
Buddy
Through digital flashcards, show pupils different pictures of the current
events in the Philippines. Let each pair write a sentence on their show-me-board to
express their opinions/emotions on every picture shown to them. (Araling
Panlipunan Integration)
Activity 2: Independent Practice
Call a pupil to roll a dice. The number appeared on the dice will be number
of the folder the pupil should pick. Let the pupil read the situation written on the
folder and use a kind of sentence to express his opinion/emotion. (Integration of
P.E)

Activity 3: Group Activity

I am going to give you a group activity. Leaders come here to get your task
cards. As you do the activity, you follow the standards for group activity.

Group 1: Through live broadcasting, one will act as a reporter, other members will
act as netizens. Interview netizens on their opinions/emotions about Filipinos
diagnosed with dengue. Use kinds of sentences in expressing your
opinions/emotions. (Integration of Health)

Group 2: Analyze the tabular data showing the result of 31 st SEA Games held in the
Philippines. Use kinds of sentences to express your opinions/emotions. Read your
answers with proper expression. (Integration of Math & Araling Panlipunan)

Group 3: Use kinds of sentences to express opinions/emotions on the pictures of


the effects of Typhoon Tisoy on the different provinces. Write them on the meta
cards provided. Read your answers with proper expression. (Literacy Integration &
Science Integration)

Let one member for each group interpret their score chart to know their score.
(Integration of Mathematics)

10. Generalization:
Ask: What are the kinds of sentences that can be used to express
opinions/emotions? How do we write declarative sentence? exclamatory
sentence?

11. Application:
Show a short video of Yolo’s winning moves in gymnastics during the 2019 SEA games.
Let the pupils write a sentence to express their opinions/ emotions.
