Award Definitions
Dare to Try (DTT)
All ideas need not succeed. Ideas that were attempted but failed at either the development stage or testing stage or at the commercialization stage would qualify for this award.

Promising Innovations (PI)


This award is for innovations which were implemented successfully and have achieved results they promised. Projects that have just been piloted do not qualify for this category

The Leading Edge - Unproven Ideas

earlier known as The Leading Edge

This award recognizes those ideas that are new to the Tata Group. It is an idea that is not on the drawing boards of any Tata company but could become a game changer if adopted.

The Leading Edge - Proven Technology

This is a new category of awards

This award recognizes those technologies that have been tested / piloted successfully but are yet to be commercialized. These technologies hold a promise to deliver big innovations.

Promising Innovations
Product innovation:
This is mostly applicable for Product industries. Following types of entries could be submitted:
All new product launches New variants of current products where the existing product has been changed significantly, or the change has helped in extending the product to new markets/customers.

Service innovation:
This is applicable to service industries dominantly. This is additionally applicable to Product companies, which provide services to support their products. Following types of entries could be submitted: A new service or significantly improved (with new concepts and ideas) existing service. A new product, which is considered to be innovative dominantly due to innovations in the service component of the product.

Promising Innovations
Innovation in operational process:
This category is applicable to ALL industries. All innovations that have created/enhanced the Operational Processes are eligible. Definition of Operational process: All processes of the company excluding those mentioned in the Support Process category.

Innovation in support processes:


This category is applicable to ALL industries. All innovations that have created/enhanced the Support Processes are eligible. Definition of Support Process: These include HR, Finance & Accounting, Marketing, Branding, Advertising, Internal IT, Administration only.

Green innovation:
This category is applicable to ALL industries. All innovations that dominantly address the issues/cause of Climate Change are eligible

Business Model innovation:


This is applicable for all types of industries. New business models that have changed the Revenue or Cost model of the company/BU/LOB are the ones that would get awarded under this category.

TLE UI themes
1. Emerging Services driven by new developments pertaining to Internet, Mobile and Value added services 2. Emerging Services driven by new government policies and initiatives eg UID etc 3. New Services emerging due to improvements in Infrastructure

4. Emerging Services to address increasing security needs (both physical as well as digital domain)
5. Emerging Healthcare Services including but not limited to changes driven by IT 6. New manufacturing technologies in High-Tech industries (not including Semiconductors) 7. New opportunities in the field of Water Management 8. Waste management
