FOR THE SYLLABUS SY 2011-2012 First Semester METHODS AND STRATEGIES OF TEACHING Course Description: This course will

provide the student with clear and comprehensive concepts, approaches and techniques, ideas and strategies for successful teaching needed in the Methods and Strategies of Teaching English P-1 The course will include discussion and practice sessions based on information drawn from the teaching and learning literature, as well as from the experiences of each individual participant. The course is designed to allow the class to explore successful teaching and learning as a collaborative group. The course materials and discussions provide you with practical and innovative ways to improve your teaching effectiveness and help you respond to the various learning needs of your students. Course Objectives: 1. apply good principles, methods and strategies of course design and planning 2. integrate teaching and assessment strategies to enhance student learning 3. effectively collect, analyze and use student feedback 4. reflect ones belief and practices about teaching and learning 5. provide opportunities to discuss teaching experiences and strategies with the students 6. familiarize with the different resources available in teaching

PRINCIPLES OF TEACHING 1 Course Description: Teaching is a dynamic process filled with meaning and surprises. This course examines principles of teaching that seem to endure from generation to generation. Learners will discuss concrete teaching principles to that can be applied to the role of the teacher. Learners will investigate the scriptures, stories, and other resources to grow in the God-given gift of teaching the Word in season and out of season. After completing this course learners will be able to articulate their teaching philosophy and integrate the teaching techniques they learned in this course to real-life teaching events. Course Objectives: 1. Learners will summarize teaching and learning principles address throughout history. 2. Learners will examine scripture to discover teaching and learning principles to apply in their philosophy and practice. 3. Learners will develop a teaching philosophy that synthesizes their readings, scriptures, and evaluations. 4. Learners will design, develop, deliver, and evaluate a lesson plan.

P.E 1 PHYSICAL FITNESS Course Description: This course will provide the students to develop the mental, emotional, physical, and social aspects of living necessary for a happy and productive life. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of team and individual sports, which include skills, rules, and game strategy, as well as mental and physical fitness. Emphasis in the program is placed on providing an opportunity for individual growth and success. Course Objectives: 1. Recognize health-related fitness concepts through participation relating these concepts in activity class sessions. 2. Recognize the types of exercise needed for physical fitness as related to health. 3. Identify, understand, and appreciate the vital role of regular exercise as a part of a daily routine. 4. Determine present physical fitness level and develop and maintain physical fitness. 5. Learn a variety of activities which can be used to develop and maintain physical fitness. 6. Identify sound physiological training principles as applied to exercise. 7. Gain knowledge of physical fitness components and basic body function. 8. Navigate and utilize the Internet to locate vital information regarding fitness and wellness. 9. Enjoy social interaction during physical activity. ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES Course Description: This course will introduce students to a new language - the language of business - accounting. The course is intended for students with no previous exposure to financial accounting. Students will read, understand, and analyze financial statements and transactions, emphases the relation between accounting data and the underlying economic events that generated them. The course focuses initially on how to record economic events in the accounting records (bookkeeping and accrual accounting) and how to prepare and interpret the primary financial statements that summarize a firm's economic transactions (the balance sheet, the income statement, and the statement of cash flows) and examines in depth the major asset, long-term liability, and shareholders' equity accounts. Course Objectives: 1. Explain the importance of ethics in the preparation and use of accounting information. 2. Explain why accounts are important when analyzing and summarizing business transactions. 3. Define debits/credits and their purpose when analyzing business transactions. 4. Explain the purpose of a journal and of a ledger in an accounting system.

5. Identify the steps in the accounting cycle. 6. Analyze business transactions, using the accounting equation and using the rules of debit and credit 7. Journalize basic business transactions for service and merchandising organizations. 8. Prepare a trial balance and financial statements after analyzing/journalizing business transactions. 9. Adjust the entries, prepare the worksheet, close and reverse entries in the business transactions 10. Compute and record depreciation using straight-line, units-ofproduction, and declining balance methods. 11. Account for asset disposal by discarding or selling the asset. BOOKKEEPING I Course Description: Bookkeeping 1 is a course that covers the fundamentals of accounting with the newcomer in mind. Accounting is more than just memorizing terms and procedures; it's a whole new way of thinking about finances. This course assumes students have no prior knowledge about accounting or finance, and delivers lessons and examples to build accounting skills. Specifically, this class addresses accounting terminology, revenue, expenses, net income, the accounting equation, debits, credits, and balancing the accounting formula, the accounting structure, the accounting cycle, journals, ledgers, the trial balance and more. It also guides students to learn how to read financial statements properly, and how to grab meaningful information from the balance sheet, income statements and cash flow statements. Course Objectives: 1. Identify why accounting is a necessary skill. 2. Summarize the history of accounting. 3. Identify and describe assets, liabilities and owners' equity. 4. Recognize and compare the major financial reports. 5. Compare and contrast a company's revenue, expenses, income, and retained earnings. 6. Solve worksheet problems involving income statements, revenue, expenses, and net income. 7. Identify the key elements of a Balance Sheet. 8. Balance the accounting equation and properly chart debits and credits. 9. Describe the key elements of bookkeeping. 10. Describe the accounting cycle. 11. Summarize cash flow, identify fixed assets, and describe depreciation. 12. Demonstrate understanding of liquidity, solvency and profitability. 13. Summarize ethical business practices in accounting

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT, VALUES AND ETHICS Course Description: This course studies the major personality theories and their applications. It provides the students to the basics of personality development, values and ethics. Personality study deals with many aspects of the complex behavior of individuals. The course also facilitates personal growth and the capacity to adjust to a rapidly changing and diverse society.

The course includes the different techniques in communication and leadership together with time management. Good grooming and correct make up caters the course. Course Objectives: 1. define and explain the basics of personality development, 2.
