Frictional Force (Kinds of Forces) GRADE 6

Friction opposes the motion of objects and causes them to slow down and stop when in contact with a surface. There are different types of friction including rolling, sliding, fluid, and static friction. Rolling friction occurs when an object rolls over a surface, sliding friction happens when two surfaces rub or slide against each other, fluid friction is the drag between objects and liquids or air, and static friction prevents stationary objects from starting to move.

Frictional Force

(Kinds of Force)
Third Grading
What is Friction?
It opposes motion.
It causes an object that moves along
a surface to slow down and eventually
stop.
It is a force that opposes motion
between two surfaces sticking or
touching each other.
It is a force that resists or opposes the
relative sliding movement of surfaces
in contact with one another.
Friction occurs between the tires and
the road.
Air Friction
It affects the falling objects.
Friction occurs between the floor and
the feet of the table and chairs.
Kinds of Friction
1.Rolling Friction
2.Sliding Friction
3.Fluid Friction
4.Static Friction
Kinds of Friction
1.Rolling Friction
-It is produced
when an object
rolls over a
surface.
Kinds of Friction
2. Sliding Friction
-“Dry Friction”
-It occurs when two objects
are rub against each other
or slide against each other.
- It is caused by chemical
bonding between surfaces.
Kinds of Friction
3. Fluid Friction
-A friction between moving
objects and a liquid or
between an object in the air.
-The drag hinders the
motion of an object.
Kinds of Friction
4. Static Friction
-It occurs in stationary
objects or objects at rest.
-It is a kind of friction that
prevents an object from
moving against a surface.
