PLANNING
5. Initially when the project is at the inception stage, the plan could referred as feasibility plan,
while in the engineering and execution stages, term use such as preliminary plan And
construction plan, respectively, are commonly used.
6. We used AutoCAD software for drawing the plan of multi storey building.
DESCRIPTION OF THE BUILDING
figure represents the skeletal structure of the building which is used to carry out the analysis
of our building.
Skeletal structure of the building
ASSIGNING THE PROPERTY OF STRUCTURE
In staad pro assignment of dead load is automatically done by giving the property of the member. In load case we have option
called self weight which automatically calculates weights using the properties of material i.e., density and after assignment of
dead load the skeletal structure looks red in color as shown in the figure.
Dead load is calculated as per IS 875 part 1
2. LIVE LOAD
Live loads are produced by the use and occupancy of a building. Loads include those from human
occupants, furnishings, no fixed equipment, storage, and construction and maintenance activities.
In staad we assign live load in terms of area load .we has to create a load case for live load and select
all the beams to carry such load. After the assignment of the live load the structure appears as shown
below.
For our structure live load is taken as 3 kN/m. for design.
Live loads are calculated as per IS 875 part 2
3. DEAD COMBINATION
All the load cases are tested by taking load factors and analyzing the building in different load combination
as per IS456 and analyzed the building for all the load combinations and results are taken and maximum load
combination is selected for the design Load factors as per IS456-2000.

• DETAILED ESTIMATE
• APPROXIMATE ESTIMATE
Detailed Estimate
The preparation of detailed estimate consists of working out quantities of various items of
work and then determine the cost each item. This prepared in two stages:
Details of measurements and calculation of quantities, Abstract of Estimated cost
Approximate Estimate
Preliminary or approximate estimate is required for studies of various aspects of work project
and for its administrative approval. The estimate is accompanied by a report duly explaining
necessity and utility of the project and with a site or layout plan. A percentage of 5 to 10%
is allowed for contingencies.
