INTRODUCTIONS
Shelter is one of the basic needs for Habitation. In this project. We have
completed the Planning. Analysis, design and Estimation of a Residential
Building of G+4 in Indore. The Project is completed with reference to the
Indian Standard codes. In planning We have used AutoCAD software for
Plan. The main objective of our project is to know the various design aspects
like planning, analysis and design etc. We have planned to design a
Residencial building consisting of five floors (G+4).The planning is done as
per the requirements and regulations given by the National Building Code
(NBC).
Estimation is compiled by using rubes from Schedule of Rates (2015) by
Public Work Department Management of construction is very much
Important hence we need shelter with good Quality in appreciative cog and
time.
OBJECTIVE

1. To Plan a Multi-storey Residential Building.

2. To Analyse and Design of RCC framed structure .

3. To Estimate the building with Standard quality material and

Management.
Methodology
The methodology followed for completing the major project is given below.
CODES

 IS-456:200 :DESIGN CODE FOR RCC STRUCTURES

 SP-16 : DESIGN CODE FOR COLUMNS
 IS-875(PART 1) :CODE FOR DEAD LOADS
 IS-875(PART 2) :CODE FOR IMPOSED LOADS
 IS-875(PART 3) :CODE FOR WIND LOADS
SOFTWARE

This project is mainly based on software and it is essential to know the details
about these software’s

PLANNING

1. Planning can be defines as “ Drawing up a method or scheme of acting, doing, proceeding,

making, etc. developed in advanced.
2. Construction project involve using different resources- human, equipment and material, money
etc. and at all time.
3. The task of construction planner is to draw up plan for optimum utilization of these resources
and to ensure appropriate preparedness at all times.
4. It should be noted that plans are drawn up at each of the stages or phases of the project,
though different terminology are used at times depending upon the stages of the project.
Ex:-feasibility plan, preliminary plan etc.

5. Initially when the project is at the inception stage, the plan could referred as feasibility plan,
while in the engineering and execution stages, term use such as preliminary plan And
construction plan, respectively, are commonly used.
6. We used AutoCAD software for drawing the plan of multi storey building.
DESCRIPTION OF THE BUILDING

 The building as a multistory residential building i.e.G+4. The building is

rectangular in shape.
 The ground floor is left as a parking space for 16 flats of the building.
 Every floor has 4 flats.
 Plan of all floor are identical.
 orientation of building is in such a way that the front is facing covers south .
 The building has been Designed as a RCC framed structure and the type
of wall is brick wall.
 Built up area 413.56 sq m
Total plot area 590.8 sq m
PLAN
Modeling and Loading

Center line plan

The above figure represents the center line diagram of our building in staad pro. Each
support represents the location of different columns in the structure. This structure is used in
generating the entire structure using a tool called transitional repeat and link steps. After
using the tool the structure that is created can be analyzed in staad pro under various
loading cases.

figure represents the skeletal structure of the building which is used to carry out the analysis
of our building.
Skeletal structure of the building
ASSIGNING THE PROPERTY OF STRUCTURE

For Slab, depth is 150 is provided.

For beam dimension is 200X300mm. is provided.
Shape of column is rectangular.
For column, Four types of dimension is used.
230 x 600
200 x 400
200 x 300
200 x 600
Above properties assigned in center line plan by using Staad pro.
COMPLETE MODEL OF STRUCTURE
Assign load on the Structure
Dead load
Dead load is the total load of all of the components of the building that generally do not change over time, such as the steel
columns, concrete floors, bricks, roofing material etc.

In staad pro assignment of dead load is automatically done by giving the property of the member. In load case we have option
called self weight which automatically calculates weights using the properties of material i.e., density and after assignment of
dead load the skeletal structure looks red in color as shown in the figure.
Dead load is calculated as per IS 875 part 1
2. LIVE LOAD
Live loads are produced by the use and occupancy of a building. Loads include those from human
occupants, furnishings, no fixed equipment, storage, and construction and maintenance activities.

In staad we assign live load in terms of area load .we has to create a load case for live load and select
all the beams to carry such load. After the assignment of the live load the structure appears as shown
below.
For our structure live load is taken as 3 kN/m. for design.
Live loads are calculated as per IS 875 part 2

3. DEAD COMBINATION
All the load cases are tested by taking load factors and analyzing the building in different load combination
as per IS456 and analyzed the building for all the load combinations and results are taken and maximum load
combination is selected for the design Load factors as per IS456-2000.

LOAD COMINATION = 1.5 DEAD LOAD + 1.5 LIVE LOAD

ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

1.Analysis is done using Staad PRO developed by Bentley.

2.Once the load and load combination are assigned to the structure, analysis is to be done.
3.Analysis is done for the RCC structure.
4.Find out shear force and bending moment.
5.Also we find reinforcement detailing.

An estimation for any construction work may be defined as the process of
calculating the quantities and costs of the various items required in connection
with the work.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF ESTIMATES ?

• TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY OF PROJECTS

• TO CALCULATE AN APPROXIMATE PRICE OF A PROJECT
• TO PREPARE A VALUE ANALYSIS
• TO SET THE SALES PRICES
• TO CALCULATE A BID PRICE
• TO DETERMINE PROJECT BUDGETS IN COST CONTROL
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE NECESSARY FOR
PREPARING AN ESTIMATE
• DRAWINGS LIKE PLAN, ELEVATION AND SECTIONS OF IMPORTANT
POINTS.
• DETAILED SPECIFICATIONS ABOUT WORKMANSHIP & PROPERTIES OF
MATERIALS ETC.
• STANDARD SCHEDULE OF RATES OF THE CURRENT YEAR.
DATA REQUIRED TO PREPARE AN
ESTIMATE
• DRAWING I.E. PLANS, ELEVATIONS, SECTIONS ETC.
• SPECIFICATIONS.
• RATES.
TYPES OF ESTIMATES

• DETAILED ESTIMATE
• APPROXIMATE ESTIMATE
Detailed Estimate
The preparation of detailed estimate consists of working out quantities of various items of
work and then determine the cost each item. This prepared in two stages:
Details of measurements and calculation of quantities, Abstract of Estimated cost

Approximate Estimate
Preliminary or approximate estimate is required for studies of various aspects of work project
and for its administrative approval. The estimate is accompanied by a report duly explaining
necessity and utility of the project and with a site or layout plan. A percentage of 5 to 10%
is allowed for contingencies.
