Meaning
Education is a process of interaction and interpersonal
communication between the teacher and the taught for
imparting and acquisition of knowledge.
Technology in education is defined as an array of tools that
helps students in the learning process. It includes aids like
smart boards, educational software’s, e journals, projectors,
and all the softwares available on web, computers, reading
devices (kindle) and a host of other innovations.
Introduction

 Presentation-based technology, based on the idea that people


can learn through aural and visual reception, exists in many
forms.
 Streaming of audio and video, or PowerPoint, use of smart
boards and multiple media has created a very big change in
the way learning is happening in educational institutions.
 It is also challenging the traditional role of teachers. The role
of teacher has changed from that of transferring information
to being a facilitator for learning.
 All Schools and colleges have adopted Computer-based
learning (CBL) system in some form or another. Students are
now growing up in a digital age where they have constant
exposure to a variety of media.
Reasons for technology use in
Education Industry
 Learning from the best.
 Audio visual learning and use of models is more
effective in learning
 Wide reach
 Recognition of online courses
 Interactive learning
 Online material and discussion forums.
 Online learning is not restricted by any university
Guidelines
 Affordable devices and internet.
 Learning at convenience and at their own pace
 Convenience for the teacher
Challenges
 Integrating the computer illiterates into the mainstream of
education

 Integrity of information available on the Web
 Huge Investments in technology
 Integrating with mainstream formal education
Conclusion
 Use of technology in education is inevitable in education. But
it comes with its own set of challenges. Technology can help
students understand latest concepts and ideas and also
enables teachers to integrate project based learning.
Technology is changing at a very rapid pace and it is
imperative for everyone to move with changes.
