Objectives:
at the end of the lesson, the students
will be able to:

1. Define planning.
2. Understand why planning is
important.
3. Make a simple plan out of a given
goal.
Activity #1: Group Activity
Goals VS. Plans
1. Students are instructed to go to their
groups silently.
2. Each group will differentiate goals from
plans.
3. Groups are given ten (10) minutes to
brainstorm.
4. Each group should select one (1) speaker
to discuss their output in front of the class
for Five (5) minutes.

These are the targets or desired


ends that management wants to

In short, goals serve as the
foundation of planning.
Goals precede plans because
knowing the desired target is a must
before establishing plans for reaching
them.

The first management function that
sets an organization’s agenda.

An extremely complex process since


it requires a systematic and artisitic
method for recognizing and analyzing
the elements of the organization’s
external environment and firm’s internal
environment’s factors and capabilities.

1. Plan is clear (very obvious not causing any


doubt or confusion).
2. Plan is exact (very careful and accurate)
3. Plan is precise (very timely)

Plan can be statistically measured (numbers


are definitive) to determine whether it’s success
or failure.

Attainable

Plan can be accomplished or achieved


based on the resources available.

Realistic

Although forecasting (prediction) may be


used in planning, the plan is based on facts.

Time-bounded

Plan should have definite time (How long is


the implementation until achieved).

Challenging

A plan should be mentally enjoying and


interesting arousing competitive output rather
than mediocrity.

scientific and artistic planning
resulting to excellent financial status
of the organization and higher return

and ensure both parties are
benefitted.
