General Requirements
Permits are controlled and valuable documents .

Permits to work system requirements should be complied.

Violation of a PTW is a serious offence and may result in personnel
3 being removed from the project.

Permits should be submitted with Job safety Analysis, Safe


4 work Plan, Drawings and Method Statements .

Permits should be submitted in advance to JGC PTW


5 Office for processing & Approval.

All closed Permits must be returned to JGC PTW Office.

sufficient magnitude and intensity to
result in ignition of any flammable
liquid, gas or any other material.

activity, which are not covered by any
specific work permit except routine
activities like mechanical maintenance,
operating motor switches, inspecting
fire fighting and safety equipment.

Definitions

ELECTRICAL LOCKOUT and TAG OUT

•If the work is to be carried out on


electrically driven equipment or equipment
having electrically operated prime mover or
on electrical circuit, the electrical breaker of
such equipment shall be locked-out as per
the Safety & Health Procedures on
"Electrical Lock-Out/Tag Out" to ensure that
the circuit is positively isolated and the
equipment is made safe.

•Lock numbers shall be recorded in the work


permit.
•Work permits shall not be issued without
providing electrical lock-outs.

Purpose
Work Permit shall be invalid or cancelled if one of the
following conditions exist:
