PHYSICAL EDUCATION
is the integral part of educational
program designed to promote the
optimum development of an
individual physically, socially,
emotionally and mentally through
total body movement of properly
selected activities.
Article XIV, Section 19 of 1987
Philippine Constitution

SECTION 1.
The state shall promote physical
education and encourage sports
programs, league competitions and
amateur sports including the training
for international competitions to foster
self-discipline, team work and
excellence for the development of
healthy and alert citizenry.
 SECTION 2.
All educational institutions
shall undertake regular
sports activities throughout
the country in cooperation
with athletic clubs and other
sectors.

To be able to maintain lifelong
health and high level of physical
fitness, one should actively
participate in physical activities.

participation in sports related
activities.

opportunities for self-
expression and emotional
mastery.

 Individual develops his
mental capacities as he
learns different activities.
PURPOSE OF
PHYSICAL
EDUCATION
• To develop optimum fitness
and health of the individual
so that he is capable of living
the “good life” and
contributing to his maximum
capacity to the attainment of
goals of our society.

who can contribute to the
economic well-being.

leaders.

innovativeness.
•To instill a love of
and pride to our
rich cultural
heritage.

students to practice further and to

PROGRAM
•Core Activities – are the
skills and activities needed
to carry out the objectives
of the program

• Related Activities – are
sometimes called
enrichment activities from
allied areas in the
curriculum such as those
in other subjects.
• Adaptive Activities- refers
to those activities, especially
adapted to the needs of
children who diverge from
the normal, such as gifted,
slow learners, culturally less
privileged and handicapped.

UNDER EXTRA
CLASS PROGRAM
•Intramurals- refers to
competitions within the
school, like dance,
gymnastics, volleyball
and other ball games.
•Extramurals- refers
to competitions of
teams from different
schools or universities
• Field Mass
Demonstration- it is a kind
of activity where most, if
not all students participated
for the purpose of informing
the public of the activities in
physical education.
•Exhibition Groups-
a special groups
specially trained for
certain events.
