What is Disaster Awareness?
 This is a process of educating and
empowering the population through
sharing knowledge and information about
the various types of disasters and their
potential risks as widely as possible so that
people act appropriately when a disaster
happens.

 A serious disruption of the
functioning of a community or a
society involving widespread human,
material, economic or environmental
losses and impacts, which exceeds
the ability of the affected community
or society to cope using its own
resources.

National Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Council (NDRRMC)

It formerly known as the National Disaster Coordinating


Council (NDCC).
A working group of different government, non-
government, common division and private organizational
sector of the Republic of the Philippines Government built
up by Republic Act 10121 of 2010.
It is regulated by the Office of Civil Defense under the
Department of National Defense.
 The Council is responsible for ensuring the protection and
welfare of the people during disasters, emergencies or crises.
What is Disaster Preparedness?

Disaster preparedness refers to measures


taken to prepare for and reduce the
impacts of disasters. That is, to anticipate
and, where possible, prevent disasters,
mitigate their impact on vulnerable
populations, and respond to and
effectively cope with their consequences.
What is Disaster Management?

The International Federation of Red


Cross & Red Crescent Societies defines
disaster management as the organization
and management of resources and
responsibilities for dealing with all the
humanitarian aspects of emergencies.

RESCUE TEAM

 Locates injured or trapped persons and


moves them to a place where they can
be cared for.
 Ensures that the members are
proficient in first aid treatment.
EVACUATION TEAM

1. Plans and implements emergency


evacuation drills.
2. Supervises and directs the movement
of people during actual emergencies.
FIRE BRIGADE

1. Designs and implements fire prevention


programs
2. Establishes relationship with the fire
department.
3. Conducts regular check-up of fire-fighting
equipment.
MEDICAL TEAM

1. Provides medical treatment to the


injured.
2. Arranges for hospitalization of
seriously injured individuals.
3. Cooperates in the training of Rescue
Team in first aid procedures.
DAMAGE CONTROL TEAM

1. Surveys and corrects damage to


utilities.
2. Reports conditions which require
emergency repairs and other
assistance.
