BJT Amplifiers: Group: ZU059 Teacher: Arzu Ibrahimova Students: Nazirli Ismat, Sadygov Baylar Subject: Electronics

This document provides an introduction to BJT amplifiers, including: - BJTs can provide high voltage, current, and power gains when biased in the forward-active region with DC bias to stabilize the operating point. - The DC bias point determines small-signal parameters and characteristics like voltage gain, input/output resistances, and maximum signal amplitudes. - AC analysis examines the input and output resistances and voltage gain of common-emitter, common-collector, and common-base amplifier configurations.

Introduction to BJT Amplifiers

• The BJT is an excellent amplifier when biased in the forward-active region.

• In these regions transistors can provide high voltage, current and power gains.
• DC bias is provided to stabilize the operating point in the desired operation
region.
• The DC Q-point also determines:
-The small-signal parameters of the transistor
-The voltage gain, input resistance, output resistance
-The maximum input and output signal amplitudes
-The overall power consumption of the amplifier.
The biasing of a transistor is purely a dc operation. The purpose of biasing
is to establish a Q-point about which variations in current and voltage can
occur in response to an ac input signal.

collector current, and collector-
to-emitter voltage about their dc
Q-point values. Ib and Ic are on
different scales.

• Considering CE amplifier circuit above, dc analysis can be done by removing the
coupling and bypass capacitors. Capacitors appear open with dc connected

• The common-collector amplifier is usually referred to as an
emitter-follower. The input is applied to the base through a
coupling capacitor, and the output is at the emitter ( no
phase change between input and output). The voltage gain
of a CC amplifier is approximately 1, and its main
advantages are its high input resistance and current gain.
The high input resistance is very useful to minimize the
