SCHOOL POLICIES
& GUIDELINES
 
CLASS ATTENDANCE
• A student is expected to attend his/her classes punctually and
regularly.
• During Mondays, all students are required to attend the Flag
Raising Ceremony that starts exactly at 7:00AM. Students
then are expected to be in school at 6:30AM or before
7:00AM. The school’s gate will close at 6:57AM for the Flag
Ceremony. Attendance during Flag Ceremony and other
school activities are recorded by the adviser for necessary
actions.
TARDINESS
• A student is considered late or tardy if he/she comes 15
MINUTES after the start of a 1-hour class. All late
students should secure an admission slip from the
adviser before entering a class. All students issued with
admission slips should be reported to the Administrative
Officer. Only a maximum of 3 admission slips is
allowed in a week. Otherwise, student’s class card will
be submitted to the Asst. Principal.
TARDINESS
• In cases where students attended in between periods, the
subject teacher should take note of the attendance and
for reporting to the adviser.
• In addition, it is the responsibility of the student to catch
up on the lessons missed during any absence.
MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE
ABSENCES

• La Union National High School-Senior High School


strictly follows the DepEd mandate on the maximum
allowable absences. As stipulated in the DepEd MRPS
of 2010 section 133, a student is allowed to be absent for
no more than twenty percent (20%) of the prescribed
number of class or laboratory periods during the
semester.
EXCUSED OR APPROVED ABSENCES
• Absences because the student represented La Union
National High School-Senior High School in an official
function or activity as authorized by the Asst. Principal
and/or Principal. This should be supported with excuse
letters with the memorandum or other supporting
documents.

• Absences due to a severe illness or accident as certified by


an attending physician.
EXCUSED OR APPROVED
ABSENCES
• Absences because of the death of next of kin (grandparent,
parent, brother or sister) certified by a copy of the death
certificate.

• Absences because of his/her attendance to urgent matters


as supported by proper documents.

*All these absences should be supported with parent’s letter.


B) SUSPENSION OF CLASSES
• LUNHS-SHS will follow the declaration of class suspension stated in
Deped Order 43 s. 2012 and/or the Local Government of San Fernando
City, La Union.
• The school can suspend classes and other activities if the student’s
safety is threatened or due to inclement weather. It is the parents’
discretion, decision and responsibility whether to send or not to send
their children in school if they feel that travelling to or from school will
place their children at risks. However, their child’s absence in class for
such discretion should be supported with a letter coming from the
parents.
• Updates will be posted through the school’s official Facebook Page- La
Union National High School Senior High School.
C) SCHOOL UNIFORM AND DRESS CODE

• All students should properly wear the prescribed La Union


National High School-Senior High School uniform. If a student
cannot wear the prescribed school uniform, he/she must present
a valid reason through a letter duly signed by the
parent/guardian for submission to the Asst. Principal or to the
Administrative Officer.
• The school ID should be part of the uniform and should be
worn inside the campus at all times.
OFFICIAL SCHOOL UNIFORM
• All strands both for Academic and TechVoc Tracks will have a
common Type A for female and male. Each strand will differ only
on their strand uniform with the correct color and logo.

• Students should wear their Type A uniform every Monday and


Wednesday and the Strand Uniform every Tuesday, Thursday and
Friday. Type A uniform should be paired with black close shoes
with at most 1.5 inches’ heel for female and black shoes for male.
In addition, the Strand uniform should be paired with black or dark
blue pants.

DRESS CODE
• Students are expected to dress properly specially during days
when uniforms are not required to be worn. Students are not
allowed to come to school wearing any of the following:

 Blouse or shirt with plunging necklines


 See-through tops and/or bottoms where the undergarment can be seen
 Sando
 Backless blouse/shirt (below the bust line)
 Tube blouse (including spaghetti-strap) worn without vest/bolero
 Blouse/skirt showing midsection while standing/walking.
 Statement shirts with inappropriate messages
 Tattered pants
 Leggings
 Colored pants
 Slippers or flip-flops (Can be worn during rainy days only.)
D) STUDENT CONDUCT
All students are expected to observe or abide by the following guidelines on discipline:

• Observe proper decorum at all times. Politeness and courtesy is a MUST.


• Observe proper Dress Code.
• Always consult and seek approval from school officials any planned activities
or programs.
• Follow rules and regulations set by the school, the adviser and laboratory
custodians.
• Use campus facilities/equipment for official purposes and only subject to
school official’s approval and regulations governing their use.
D) STUDENT CONDUCT
• All extra-curricular activities in campus must be approved by the Principal
and/or Asst. Principal. The presence of faculty and/or department
organizers is required for the duration of the activity.
• Students are required to observe silence in the corridors and within the
vicinity of the campus at all times in order not to disturb classes, school
functions, or programs.
• Switch off or put on silent mode all electronic gadgets during class hours
and other school functions or gatherings. These gadgets must not be used
during class hours without authorization from the teacher. Adviser/Subject
Teachers are allowed to collect the gadgets during class hours.
D) STUDENT CONDUCT
• Observe decency in public. Public display of affection
particularly physical intimacy is not tolerated in school premises.
• Seek endorsement and approval from the Principal and/or the
Asst. Principal before posting any material. This should not
damage walls of the school.
• Turn over found items to the Administrative Officer II and make
sure that they are properly acknowledged, recorded, and
accounted for.
• Observe social media etiquette when posting updates, pictures,
videos, comments and ideas online.
D) STUDENT CONDUCT
• BULLYING, INITIATION RIGHTS, HAZING, BRINGING OF
ILLEGAL DRUGS, ALCOHOLIC DRINKS and
DEADLY/DANGEROUS WEAPONS are serious offenses under the
Philippine Law. Students are strongly ordered to avoid engaging in any
action that threatens to endanger health or life. La Union National High
School-Senior High School has the right to give the highest sanction
possible to the students found responsible of committing such highly
dangerous acts.
• La Union National High School-Senior High School strictly imposes NO
SMOKING and NO VAPING in the CAMPUS. Not only recognizes the
hazards of smoking and vaping to human’s health but also following DepEd
rules on NO SMOKING campaign in the campus.
E) MINOR AND MAJOR OFFENSES

MINOR OFFENSES
 Not wearing ID in the campus
 Lending or using someone else’s ID
 Improper Uniform
 Wearing inappropriate attire in the campus
 Loitering and littering during class hours

• Using foul or abusive language/expression against any person
• Making noise and displaying inappropriate actions in the campus that
disturbs classes or programs
• Violation of classroom and laboratory rules.
• Improper haircut, using make-up, wearing of nail polish, colored hair,
wearing of earrings for the boys and wearing of dangling and multiple
earrings for the girls
• Using cellphone and other gadgets during class hourrs 
SANCTIONS FOR MINOR
OFFENSES
• 1st - Warning with community service
• 2nd - Making of promissory note
• 3rd - Call parents and inform the adviser
• 4th - Audience with the Asst. Principal and/or the
Principal

HOWEVER, Habitual commission of any minor offense (habitual


commission is defined as having committed any minor offense or combination thereof
THREE (3) times or more per term) WILL BE CONSIDERED AS A
MAJOR OFFENSE
MAJOR OFFENSES

• Students who commit any major offense will be properly dealt with strict
disciplinary action as determined by the Asst. Principal and/or Principal.

A)Bullying (RA 10627 – Anti-Bullying Act of 2013)

1ST - Call parents and inform the adviser with promissory note

2nd - Audience with the Asst. Principal/Principal with probable

suspension
MAJOR OFFENSES
B) Absenteeism/ Cutting Classes/Gambling/ Membership in any fraternity/
Quarrelling/ Drinking Liquor/ Vandalism/ Disrespectful or lying to a person
in authority/ Forging of parent’s/guardian’s/teacher’s signature/ Carrying of
deadly weapons or explosives/ Stealing/ Possession of pornographic materials
/ Hacking of school’s internet WiFi or computer system/ Posting in social
websites any form of unauthorized materials including statements that may
morally damage the school or an individual/ Illegal activities online
1st - Call parents and inform the adviser with promissory
note
2nd - Audience with the Asst.Principal/Principal

C. Smoking/Vaping

1st - Call parents, inform the adviser with promissory note


and 18 hours community service at the Guidance Office or as
per discretion of the Asst. Principal/

MAJOR OFFENSES
D) Cheating during an examination or in the submission of
written reports. Cheating can be any of the following forms:
 Opening notes without the proctor’s permission during examination.
 Possessing unauthorized notes or “cheat notes” during an examination
 Copying or allowing somebody to copy from your examination paper
 Maliciously glancing at a seatmate’s examination paper with an obvious intention of
copying or cheating.
 Talking with classmates without the proctor’s permission.
 Having someone take the examination on your behalf.
 Plagiarism in writing research/term papers and assigned paper works.

D) Involvement in Drug Cases

1st - Report to the Police and Office of the Chief

REFORMATIVE CASES

• Counseling by the guidance coordinators/

• Referral to the DSWD, the Police and/ or the


Barangay Child Protection Committee (BCPC)
The Prefect of Discipline and/or the Guidance Office has the
authority to recommend a student for non-admission to La Union
National High School if the number of offenses has reached five (5)
for the minor and three (3) for the major offenses, except for the
drug cases.
The school head has the authority to approve the recommendation
and if approved will take place immediately. The student’s credentials
shall be released for him/ her to take his/her chances to other schools.
REPORTING OF DISCIPLINARY CASES
• Any member of the La Union National High School-Senior High School
community may file an incident report using an official form from the
Administrative Office against any student for acts constituting as major
and/or minor offenses, preferably within twenty-four (24) hours after the
incident has taken place. All incident reports must be sent to the Prefect
of Discipline.

• Confidentiality of the complaint and anonymity of the complainant are of


utmost importance.
