Mathematics 2

This document provides a lesson on visualizing and counting numbers by 10s, 50s, and 100s. It reviews place value and skip counting. Skip counting makes it easier to count large amounts of objects or money by grouping them into 10s, 50s, or 100s. To skip count by 10s, add 10 to the previous number. To skip count by 50s, add 50. To skip count by 100s, add 100. The lesson includes examples and practice problems for students to demonstrate skip counting by 10s, 50s, and 100s. It emphasizes that skip counting is the fastest way to count.

Read the short story problem

Myrna helped her mother in selling vegetables to their neighborhood.

They put the money in a piggy bank every day. After a month they
opened it to buy school things. How much money did they put in a
piggy bank?
We count 10, 20, 30, 40. This method of
counting is called skip counting by 10s
In skip counting by 10s, we just simply
add 10 to the number.

We count 50, 100, 150. We just did skip
counting by 50s. We count 50 pesos 3 times. This
method of counting is called skip counting by 50.
In skip counting by 50s, we just simply add 50 to
the number.
We count 100, 200. We just did skip counting by 100s.
We count 100 pesos 2 times. This method of counting
is called skip counting by 100s.
In skip counting by 100s, we just simply add 100 to
the number.
- Counting numbers by 10s, 50s and 100s, make us
easier in counting the amounts of money or objects.
- Aside from counting by one, we also use counting by
10s, 50s and 100s
- When there are too many objects, it is easier to
count when we group them together.
- We can group them by 10s, 50s and 100s.
This method is called skip counting.
- Skip counting is used to count faster.
- Skip counting by 10s, just add 10 to get the next number.
- So. the next number to 10s, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90,
100.
