Freezing Panes in Google Sheets

Allows users to keep rows, columns,

or a combination of both, allowing
users to still access any information
entered in them as they are fixed and
on display as one scrolls vertically
and horizontally.
Freezing Columns, Rows, or a combination of both

● Select the cell you wish to set as the

border for freezing
● Under the “View” tab, you will find
the “Freeze” option
● You can choose one of the eight
possible choices as seen in the
image to your right
Freezing Columns, Rows, or a combination of both

● “No rows” and “No columns”

removes any previously frozen cells
● Choosing “Up to current row/column”
will freeze the column and/or row
based on the currently selected cell
● You may combine one rule for row
and another rule for the column
Conditional Formatting
Applied when users want cells to change their
appearance or content based on an applied set of rules
How does Conditional Formatting even work?

When using Conditional Formatting, the selected

cells will change based on parameters set by the
user

Multiple rules can be applied to the cells

If a number entered in a cell is a value from 51 to 100 for

example, the cell will be highlighted green. If not, the cell will
be yellow instead.
Applying Conditional
Formatting

● Highlight the cell/cells you wish to

apply conditional formatting to and
right click
● The option for conditional
formatting will bring up the tab on
the right of your screen
Applying Conditional
Formatting

● Here you can see the following:

○ The range of the cells selected
○ A drop-down list of rules you
may choose from
○ Possible formatting styles that
will be applied based on the
rules you chose
Applying Conditional
Formatting

● For the Color Scale tab, this is basically a

pre-set rule wherein colors will be
determined based on a numerical scale
