Server
Learning Objective 1:
Adding/Installing Roles
• Things to Remember Before Adding Roles:
• Unplugged the Lan cable in the Client PC when Configuring in the server to avoid conflicts.
• Be sure that the Server IPV4 is already in a static.
• Disable and Enable to Refresh when changing IP Address
• Open Server Manager in the left side select Local Server and change the Computer Name
Example. ApdoServer (it depends on the Assessor)
• Enable Remote Dekstop then Restart … Proceed to adding Roles

Steps to Install Roles


1. Open Server Manager  Dashboard  Add roles  Select Active Directory Domain Services,
DHCP Server, DNS Server, File and Storage Services and Select Work Folders, Print and
Document Services, Remote Dekstop Services  Next until Role Services and and select the
first 4 Remote Dekstop  Next and then Check the restart  Done
Learning Objective 02: Create a
Domain/ Promote this server to a
domain controller
• Things to Remember:
• After installing all the roles open again the Server Manager and click the notification icon
after that select promote this server to domain controller.
• When creating a domain name there are three types .org, .net and .com. It depends on
the assessor what you will use.
• When creating a domain use a password that you can remember.

Steps to create a domain

1. After selecting the “promote this server to a domain controller”  select add new forest
name it with your last name example Apdo.net.  create a password  Next  Install then
restart
Learning Objective 03: Configure
DHCP
Steps to Configure DHCP
1. Open Server Manger  Find the notification icon and Select
Complete DHCP Configuration Commit and restart the server 
Done
2. Open Server Manager  Tools  DHCP  IPV4  New Scope  Name it
Example. Apdo Scope  IP address Range  Add your Router IP
address  Resolve  Refresh  Done
Learning Objective 04: Creating
Organization Unit and Users
Follow these steps:
1. Open server manager and find tool in the upper right side, select
Active Directory Users and Computers  Right Click Apdo.net 
New  Organizational Unit  Name it Example Apdo.org  Right
click Apdo.org  New  Group  Name it Example Apdo Group  check
domain local  Ok
2. Right click the Apdo Group  Create User  Name it and check 2nd
and 3rd boxes  Right click the user you create  select add to group 
check names apdo group  Done
Learning Objective 05: Folder
Redirection
Things to remember:
Create a folder first name it Example. Shared  Properties  Sharing 
Share  select everyone and Add it  Make it Read/Write  Find people
 check names apdo group, domain user and domain admin and make
it read/write  share  Advance Sharing  Check share this folder 
Permission  Allow all  Add apdo group, domain admins, domain
users and allow all  Apply  Sharing  Copy the Network path.
Follow these steps:
1. Server Manager  Tools  Group Policy Management  Expand until
apdo.org  Right click apdo.org  Create GPO  Name it into folder
redirection and remote desktop GPO  Right the GPO you created 
Edit  Expand Polices under User Configuration  Window Settings
 Folder Redirection  Dekstop  Basic  Paste the network path
you copy  Check only the 2nd box  Apply  when done hold
windows + R and type gpupdate /force  Done.
2. Go to GPO you created  Edit  Preference  Local Users and Group
 Right Click it  Local Group  Remote Desktop  Add tesda group ,
domain users and domain admins  Apply  execute again the
gpuupdate / force  turn on all advance sharing settings  Open server
Manager  Remote Dekstop  Select User add the user you create,
domain users and domain admins  Done  Restart
3. Go to Client PC  This PC  Properties  Change settings  Change
the name of your Client PC Example. APDOClient  Remote  Allow 
Restart Now  Turn on all advance sharing settings except the password
 Plug your Lan cable now  This PC  Properties  Change settings 
Put your Domain Name  OK  Log in  Restart
4. After the Restart  Select other user  Log in the user you create 
execute the gpupdate /force  type y  make a new folder  go to
server pc and check if there is a folder shown that you created  Done!
5. This PC  Properties  Change Settings  Remote  Select Users 
Add the domain users  Restart  DOne
Learning Objective 06: Remote
Desktop Connection
Follow these steps:
1. Go to Server search remote desktop connection and open it  Type
the Computer name of your Client and username of the user that you
create  Connect  Type the password  Connect  Done
