Present Perfect

Simple
The Present Perfect Simple can express different
types of situations, but the focus is always on an
action that relates present and past
____________________________________.
It is used to express:

▪ Actions which started in the past and continue

up to the present (in combination with since and
for, and how long…?)
Examples:
Heavies have existed for more than fifty years.
Heavy metal bands have sold millions of records since the 1960s.
How long have you done that tattoo?
It is used to express:

▪ Actions that has happened at an indefinite time

in the past. Reference to a recent past may occur
with adverbs like recently or just.

Examples:

The interview with 50 Cent has just been shown on TV.

Ziggy Marley has recently launched a new CD.
It is used to express:

▪ Actions which have never happened before

but can still happen or which have already
happened and can still happen again. We use
adverbs like: ever (questions), already, never, (not)
yet.

Examples:
