ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications for TVET CDACC
Exams Registration

The student;

• Must have attended classes at least 75% per term per unit
competency (subject)

• Must have sat for CAT 1, CAT 2, Practical Assessments and End
of the term examinations for every unit of competency (subject)

• Must have a file containing CAT1, CAT 2, Practical Checklist and


End term exam scripts.
Who qualifies to register for the
TVET CDACC Exams?
The student;

• Who attended classes at least 75% per term per unit


competency (subject)

• Who sat for CAT 1, CAT 2, Practical Assessments and End of the
term examinations for every unit of competency (subject)

• Who has a file containing CAT1, CAT 2, Practical Checklist and


End term exam scripts filed as POEs

The student;

• Who is continuing and has completed at least two semesters


and covered at least 8 units of competency (subjects)

• With complete POEs for the unit of competencies intending to


register.

• Who sat for special/ supplementary internal assessment


having missed or scored refer in the end term exams
• N/B: A continuing student who will register for TVET CDACC
while continuing with learning, will be required to pay for
school fees as well as the TVET CDACC exam registration fee

• INTERNAL Assessments (CAT 1, CAT 2, PRACTICAL


ASSESSMENT AND END TERM exams Marks contribute to
60% of the final grade)

• External (TVET CDACC) assessment contributes to 40%


of the final grade
TVET CDACC Grading of performance

• The grading of performance of a candidate per unit of competency is


done as follows:

• N/B THERE IS NO DISTINCTION, CREDIT, PASS, REFER OR FAIL INDCATED IN THAT MANNER

For a candidate to be declared competent in a unit of competency, the
candidate must meet the following conditions:

• Obtained at least 40% in theory assessment in internal and external


assessment.

• Obtained at least 50% in practical assessment in internal


assessment and external assessment where applicable.

• Obtained at least 50% in the sum of the results between internal


assessment and external assessment where the internal constitutes
60% and the external 40%.

• Student who receives the final grade per unit of


competency as ‘NOT YET COMPETENT’, will be re-
registered for the same unit of competency as a repeat
with a cost of Ksh.3,000 per unit.
TVET CDACC Certifications,

• All students MUST sit for ALL TVET CDACC units of competency at their
respective levels to qualify for full certification.

• The maximum number of units per examination series is eight (8).

• There are THREE series of exams in a year (March, July &November)

• A student with 17 units and above would sit for Three series.

• Failure to sit for all the required units will result in TVETA CDACC
withholding the overall certificate
GUIDELINES ON CBET
INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT
• Industrial attachment is considered as a unit of competence.

• Candidates enrolled for full qualification must be placed in an industry


covering all the core units of competency s/he is training as per the
curriculum.

• In case a candidate cannot cover all the core units in one organization,
s/he may be attached in a different organization midway provided it is
approved by the ILO and the Head of Department.

• For a candidate with special needs they may be allowed to


have an assistant/guide in the organization where they are
attached.
• The ILO shall ensure requirements of Industrial attachment
have ben planned for which may include but not limited to;
• procurement of insurance cover;
• Purchasing of mentoring tools from the Council;
• liaising with industry, professional associations and
bodies for placement of mentees;
• briefing candidates ;
• Industrial attachment assessment schedules.
PLACEMENT
• The ILO shall ensure candidates are placed in relevant workplaces based on
the course/unit of competency.
• In case the candidate fails to fulfil the duration requirement due to any reason,
s/he is required to communicate to the ILO within one week of termination.
• The ILO in liaison with the head of department will make a decision based on
merit on either to:
Repeat the entire attachment period,
Place the candidate in a different company to continue with the
attachment,
Note: The attachment shall be terminated entirely in case of disciplinary
matters.
PLACEMENT OF CANDIDATES
WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
• During placement, the ILO shall ensure the welfare of
candidates with special needs is considered through
provision of the necessary requirements by the trainee.

• The ILO in liaison with relevant stakeholders shall


ensure the attaching organization meets the needs of
the candidate with special needs.
INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT
ASSESSMENT
• The assessment of the candidate during attachment will be as
prescribed in the mentoring tool of the course/unit of competency.

• Upon completion of the attachment period, the candidate will


submit the mentoring report to the Head of Department.

• The department shall evaluate the mentoring tool, compute the


total marks and fill them in the continuous assessment
marksheets.
CONT’

• The ILO shall ensure the marks for industrial attachment have

been entered in the Council’s Portal before the review of portfolio

of evidence by the Council.

• The ILO shall liaise with the respective head of department to file

the mentoring documents to candidate’s Portfolio of Evidence file


Industrial Attachment Appeals
and Grievances
• The grievances and appeals related to industrial attachment
may be initiated by either the candidate or the attaching
organization through formal communication to the ILO.

• The assessment center manager and the relevant


stakeholders shall resolve the dispute and formally
communicate the same to the parties concerned within one
month.
GRADUATION

• THE STDUENT can only graduate having sat for all the

TVET CDACC units of competencies and attained

competent and above qualifications across all the

levels.
