INTRODUCTION
The AI Stethoscope with VIAM is a cutting-edge healthcare solution designed to enhance traditional
auscultation techniques by incorporating artificial intelligence and robotics. The device combines a
digital stethoscope with advanced machine learning models to analyze heart and lung sounds,
providing real-time diagnostic insights. By leveraging the VIAM robotics platform, the stethoscope
integrates with smart devices, enabling remote monitoring and seamless data sharing.
This project addresses challenges in healthcare, such as limited access to specialists, delayed
diagnoses, and resource constraints in rural or underserved areas. Its applications span telemedicine,
early disease detection, and healthcare education. By improving diagnostic accuracy and accessibility,
the AI stethoscope has the potential to transform modern medicine, making quality healthcare more
affordable and efficient.
OBJECTIVES
1. Early Detection of Cardiac Abnormalities.
2. Improve Accessibility to Healthcare.
3. Facilitate Remote Health Monitoring

Integrated Module
1. Data Collection
.Utilized a public dataset containing heart disease audio recordings (Aortic Stenosis, Mitral
Regurgitation, Mitral Stenosis, Mitral Valve Prolapse, and Normal heart sounds).
.Each class has 200 audio samples (4-5 seconds long).
2. Data Preprocessing
Resampled dataset from 8 kHz to 16 kHz for compatibility with YAMNet.
Converted audio to mono format and split into frames of 0.96s with a 0.48s hop.
3. Model Selection
.Chosen YAMNet (pre-trained on AudioSet) for transfer learning.
.Leveraged YAMNet’s ability to classify 521 sound events, adapting it for heart disease
detection.
4. Feature Extraction & Training
.YAMNet extracts relevant features like pitch and frequency from stethoscope sounds.
.Model will be trained on Google Colab using TensorFlow, with training accuracy of 94%
and testing accuracy of 93%.
6. Deployment
.Model is saved in TensorFlow format for easy deployment.
APPLICATIONS
1.Early Diagnosis of Cardiac Disorders.
2.Telemedicine and Remote Healthcare.
3.Assistance for Primary Healthcare Providers.
4.Healthcare in Resource-Limited Areas.
5.Medical Training and Education.
6.Home Monitoring for Chronic Patients.
