DEFINTION

• The field of cp integrates science, theory and practice to understand,


predict and alleviate maladjustment, disability, and discomfort as well
as to promote human adaptation, adjustment and personal
development.
• It focuses in the intellectual, emotional, biological, psychological , social
and behavioural aspects of human functioning across the life span, in
varying cultures, and at all socio-economic levels.

disorders. Clinical psychologists are doctorate-level professionals who have

treatment of various psychological disorders. They work primarily in health and
mental health clinics, in research, in academic settings, or in group and independent
practices. They also serve as consultants to other professionals in the medical, legal,
social-work, and community-relations fields. Clinical psychologists comprise
approximately one third of the psychologists working in the United States and are
governed by the code of practice of the American Psychological Association and by
state licensing requirements.

to treat various psychological disorders.
• Focus on Mental Health: The primary focus is on mental health issues, including mood disorders,
anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and psychotic disorders, among others.
•Holistic Approach: Clinical psychology often takes a holistic view, considering biological,
