When creating the War for Cybertron Trilogy and its first part, Siege, Hasbro planned out a story that would be broken up into several forms of media. As such, one of the sources for the story came from the packaging of the figures. Shining a blacklight on the artwork located on the side of the box would reveal a piece of Cybertronian text that translated into "Easter egg" words or phrases that related to the respective character in some way. Using the official War for Cybertron: Siege website, a series of locations marked out on a map of Cybertron with 33 of the line's toy ID numbers could be found. Entering the codes into the corresponding ID number slots would open up a series of Teletraan-1 Data Files[1] for each of the respective characters and their last known locations during the final moments of the war on Cybertron.
Each data file unlocked also featured desktop wallpapers of either the respective characters (usually the box art) or patterns of faction insignias with weathered detailings. Toy transformation videos and bonus content that either related to the Siege story (see below) or toyline could also be found (e.g. Refraktor's SDCC-exclusive toy release date or Orthia's combined form).
Once all of the files had been unlocked, a series of 5 stop motion videos telling another part of the story were also revealed, as well as a full map of Cybertron and the mentioned locations from each of the file entries (see right).

Hasbro Pulse blog entries
Also serving to tell parts of the Siege / War for Cybertron Trilogy story, Hasbro released several pieces of additional story information in the form of Teletraan-1 data files on Hasbro Pulse. These entries can be found in the "unboxed" section under the "Blogs" tab.
Weapons database
Among the first of Hasbro Pulse additions to the story, Optimus Prime and Megatron received weapons database entries that displayed the C.O.M.B.A.T. System and explained in detail what their weapons' functions were. Both entries also make note of Shockwave and Wheeljack's hand in the construction of their respective leaders' weapons.
Who is Orthia?
To add a back story for Orthia, the combiner that was first introduced as a part of Greenlight's unlockable content on the Siege website, Hasbro Pulse added an entry explaining the backstory and history of the Primes and their connection with the Shield of Solus—an all-female team lead by Elita-1.
//Teletraan-1 data file unlocked //
- COMBINER NAME: Orthia
- TEAM NAME: Shield of Solus
- POWER: Forge powerful weapons when team is combined
“ | In the darkest days, I am the light. | ” |
- All know of the great and powerful Primes, the god-like bots who shaped the Transformers universe. And all know of the one called Solus Prime and how she forged the mystical weapons and artifacts the Primes used to battle elemental forces of evil. Those legendary weapons and artifacts remain among the most powerful objects in the universe. But known to only a few is her most potent creation: a fierce team of heroes, formed in her spirit to carry on her legend...
- At the apex of creation, Solus Prime planted the seeds of a shared destiny within the sparks of five brave warriors. These protectors, united by common cause and uncommon courage, together form the last line of defense, a chosen few to be summoned in Cybertron’s greatest hours of need. They are the constant guardians. The unyielding defenders. They are the Shield of Solus.
- Led by Elita-1, this select team is made up of Moonracer, Novastar, Greenlight, and Lancer. They have a great power hidden within them that can only be unlocked when their unique sparks come together within a Combiner form.
- When Cybertron faces its darkest days, Elita-1 and her team must combine together to meet their destiny and form…Orthia. The combination of their unique sparks infuses Orthia with the creation power of Solus Prime. This power gives Orthia the ability to forge immensely powerful weapons to be used against the planet's greatest threats.
- Orthia stands up and fights when all seems lost. Her resolve has been forged in the fires of battle. Her legend steeled by the selflessness of sacrifice. It is in times of greatest despair that her greatest victories are won. She is light, she is hope, she is Orthia -- the fiercest guardian of Cybertron.
//Teletraan-1: Access Granted_Ark Blueprint

- ↑ The Siege website misspells the name for these entries as "Teletraan1 Data Files", omitting the hyphen dividing the word and the number. Additonally, the title and URL for the website uses "Teletron".
- ↑ SIIEXXXIITSFAT is in reference to season 2, episode 53, "The Search for Alpha Trion", which is the episode Chromia and the other Female Autobots originally appeared in.
- ↑ The website has it spelt "Praetoreus Wharf", but the map of Cybertron (located at the top of this page) spells it the same way as the media that came before it, making it reasonable to assume that this was just a typo.
- ↑ 4.0 4.1 4.2 4.3 For whatever reason, all location text on the last four data entries changed to uppercase lettering on the website, starting with Spinister.
