object by a suitable adhesive. As the object is deformed, the foil is deformed, causing its electrical resistance to change. This resistance change, usually measured using a Wheatstone bridge, is related to the strain by the quantity known as the gauge factor.
The gauge factor GF is defined as where RG is the resistance of the undeformed gauge, R is the change in resistance caused by strain, and is strain. For metallic foil gauges, the gauge factor is usually a little over 2. For a single active gauge and three dummy resistors, the output v from the bridge is voltage. where BV is the bridge excitation
Foil gauges typically have active areas 2-10 mm in size. With careful installation, the correct gauge, and the correct adhesive, strains up to at least 10% can be measured.

Procedure:
1. Power ON the switch. The front RED LED glow which indicates the power available on the instrument. 2. Give some time to stabilize the instrument for stabilization (warm up time). 3. Balance the Torque Transducer by through the corresponding ZERO ten turn trimpot. 4. Set the gain of Torque Transducer by SPAN ten turn trimpot. 5. Take readings for both loading and unloading.
