1. Introduction
MCA5050 Seminar of 2 credits is part of MCA 5th semester curriculum. This is being introduced to make the students familiarize, to carry out a literature survey, presentation and report preparation skills. Seminar is included to inculcate an active learning platform wherein students can develop the ability to read critically and conceptually, and therefore to present and develop a report.

2. Guidelines
Topics chosen for seminar should be related to Computer Applications or Information Technology. It is should be of topical in nature. The seminar should provide an active learning format in which students can develop the ability to read critically and conceptually, and therefore to speak and write. The Learning centre should attach a mentor (faculty) to the student to complete his seminar requirement. Consultation sessions with the mentors should be arranged as per mutual convenience. The mentor will help the student in identifying a seminar topic inline to the prescribed guidelines, counsel and also review the progress on a monthly basis. As part of the requirement the student need to prepare a Report in consultation with the guide. As a continuous assessment two reviews needs to be done by the Learning Centre by constituting a panel of faculty members to assess the student progress. Seminar Preparation and Submission Guideline

Students must submit his/her Seminar synopsis to the respective centre along with his / her name & number, centre code & address etc., and get it approved by them. Two sets of hard copy of the seminar report must be submitted to the centres by the students. The report must be submitted within the stipulated time both soft and hard copy to the study centre. Students must do a presentation at their study center to the internal & external examiner on the date specified by the university. The date will be mentioned in the university term-end examination time table.

3. Topics for Seminar


Students can select any recent computer science related topic. Few topics are given below as an indicator. 1) Cloud computing 2) Green Computing 3) Mind-Reading computer 4) 3G 4G 5G Technology 5) Neural Interfacing 6) 3D password 7) Green cloud 8) Zettabyte Filesystem 9) Android Technology 10) Smart memories 11) Humanoid Robot 12) Mobile WiMax 13) Advanced encryption standards 14) Bandwidth Recycling 15) Haptic technology

4. Format for preparation of seminar report


The length of the report may be about 30 to 40 pages, with 1.5 line spacing, 1.25 inches margin on either side, printed on A4 size papers. Ten percent variation on either side is permissible.

The table and figures shall be introduced in the appropriate places. 4.2. Page dimension and binding specifications: The dimension of the seminar report should be in A4 size. 4.3. Preparation format: 1 Abstract Abstract should be one page synopsis of the seminar report typed 1.5 line spacing, Font Style Times New Roman and Font Size 12. Table of Contents A specimen copy of the Table of Contents of the seminar report is given in Appendix List of Tables & List of Figures The list should use exactly the same captions as they appear above the tables in the text. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. Chapters The chapters may be broadly divided into 3 parts (i) Introductory chapter, (ii) Chapters developing the main theme of the seminar (iii) and Conclusion. The main text will be divided into several chapters and each chapter may be further divided into several divisions and sub-divisions. Each chapter should be given an appropriate title. Tables and figures in a chapter should be placed in the immediate vicinity of the reference where they are cited.

List of References The listing of references should be typed 4 spaces below the heading REFERENCES in alphabetical order in single spacing left justified. The reference material should be listed in the alphabetical order of the first author. The name of the author/authors should be immediately followed by the year and other details.

Typing Instructions: One and a half spacing should be used for typing the general text. The general text shall be typed in the Font style Times New Roman and Font size 12. 5. Evaluation
Methodology of Conduct of Seminar The course titled Seminar bearing the subject code MCA5050 is of 2 credits with a total of 100 marks. 70 % of total marks are allotted as internal evaluation marks (40%- Panel Evaluation, 30%-Guide) and 30% of total marks are allotted as marks for University external examination.
