SEMINAR (NIT-851)

The process of evaluation of seminar is defined as follows:

1. Students are supposed to choose a topic of a seminar from latest research areas or latest
technologies related to the project undertaken by them in the final year and get it
approved from Project guide and then Seminar coordinator.
2. After approval of the selected topic, students are required to make an effective power
point presentation. The presentation should include contents having clear understanding
of their topic (content should not be copied from web), should be organized in an
appropriate manner and should inculcate interests among audience.
3. After the presentation, students are required to submit a hard copy of their report in
proper format within a week and mail a soft copy of presentation to their respective
faculty.
4. Each student will be assessed on the evaluation rubrics covering both presentation and
documentation parameters.

Instructions for preparing presentation are as follows:

1. 5-6 students will be required to give presentation every week in their scheduled
lab. The presentations will be held according to the university roll numbers of
students.
2. Student should come in formal attire on the day of presentation.
3. The presentation should include the topics such as Introduction/Background,
Literature review/Technology, system design and architecture, conclusion and
future work.
4. The presentation must have 15-20 slides (maximum) and the duration of
presentation should not be more than 20 minutes followed by 5-10 minutes of
audience interaction.
5. First slide should give an outline of the presentation.
6. Content in slides must be point wise ( too much text should be avoided)
7. Avoid the use of distracting animation.
8. The slides should have no spelling mistakes, repeated words, grammatical
errors etc.
9. Use tables, diagrams and charts to illustrate the architecture, algorithms and
results.
10. The conclusion slide should summarize the main points of the topic.
11. The last slide must contain references in a standard IEEE format.
PRESENTATION MUST BE SELF-PREPARED AND NOT DOWNLOADED FROM THE NET. STRICT
ACTION WILL BE TAKEN AGAINST PLAGIARISM
Guidelines for seminar report are as follows:

1. The seminar report must be spiral bound. One copy of the seminar report should
be submitted to the Seminar Coordinator. Every student may have his/her own
additional copy.
2. Report must be written on the basis of candidate's own understanding on the
topic (plagiarism is strictly prohibited).
3. Abstract should be not more than One Page. It must consist of three paragraphs:
first paragraph should have topic introduction, second should contain the
methodology / technology presented by the student on the topic and last
paragraph should contain conclusions and future aspects of the same.
4. All students are required to submit hard copy (tentative) of report
according to the format one week prior to the date of presentation. Report
once approved by Seminar coordinators has to be submitted in spiral
bound.

 Conclusion (should be a separate chapter)

6. Sequence of contents(chapter wise) should be as follows:
