Configure Scan to SMB Using CentreWare Internet

Service (CWIS)
NOTE: This solution requires knowledge of the network on which the printer is installed
and may require the assistance of a System or Network Administrator.

This solution involves creating a user on the network configured to have the rights to log
on locally to the computer or server. This user, referred to as the Scan User, will be used
by the printer to login to the network allowing the scanned files to be deposited into a
folder on the network.

Create the Scan User at the computer or server:

1. Create a shared folder to be used as a scan filing location (repository) for scanned
documents.

NOTE: The Share Name of the folder and the Computer Name or Server Name.

2. Create a user account and password for the printer to use with full access rights to
the scan directory.

NOTE: The user account and password.

3. Test the settings by attempting to connect to the shared folder from another
computer by logging in with the user account and password. Create a new folder
within the directory and then delete the folder.
4. If this function cannot be completed check the user account access rights.

NOTE: By default, third party firewall programs can block read or read/write
access to shared folders on a computer. If necessary, contact your third party
firewall vendor to ensure that either the printer's IP address (if statically set) or
MAC address (as well as any other computers you would like to access that share
on the same network) is fully trusted by that program.
5. Login to CWIS. See the Related Content for additional information.
6. Click on [Address Book].
7. Click on [Individual] in the left side menu. The Individual Address Book will be
displayed.
8. Click on the [Add] button. The Add menu will be displayed.
9. Enter a name for your address book entry in the General area.
10. Select the required Speed No. for this entry.
11. Scroll down to the SMB section and click on the Add SMB checkbox.
12. In the SMB Server Address area:
1. Enter the IP address or DNS name of your computer.
NOTE: If using a host name the DNS server settings will need to be
configured.

2. Enter the port number (typically 139).

13. In the Login ID area:
1. Check the Anonymous checkbox to use an anonymous login.
2. If security is required, enter the SMB server login details in the Login ID
field.
3. Enter the SMB server password in the Password and Confirm Password
fields.
4. Enter the Domain in the Domain field.
5. Enter the directory path structure of the folder on SMB server in the
Path field. (If the Shared Folder is on the root drive of the PC, then the
only entry needed here is the name of the Shared Folder. This is different
from some other devices).
14. In the Scan folder creating policy area, select the required method for folder
creation.
The options are:

o Create new folder using login name.

o Create new folder every Day, Month, Year.
o Create new folder only if scan output consists of several files.
2. Select the required Filing Policy from the drop down menu.
3. Enter the required File Name for scanned documents.
4. Click on [Apply] to save the changes.
