CONDUCT COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT

1) AS AN ASSESSOR ESTABLISH THE CONTEXT AND


PURPOSE OF ASSESSMENT
 The Assessor- must familiarize self w/ the
qualification or unit of competencies to be assessed.
 Ensure that the assessment site complies w/ the
relevant occupational health and safety
requirements
 Ensure that the assessment resources are available
 The assessor must ensure that the tool, equipment,
and facilities are ready and available in the
assessment site before the assessment starts
 I have a check list of tools, equipment and facilities
must be on hand to help the assessor monitor the
availability and completeness of the tools,
equipment and facilities which is available in the
assessor’s guide

3) Prepare the Candidate
 Before the conduct of the Assessment, this
Assessment center I already check, that all
material’s, tools, and equipment, are already
functioning. Welcome to DIVINE LIFE INSTITUT OF
CEBU INCORPORATED, located at Yati Liloan Cebu.
My Name is TEOGENIS S. CULMINAS, I am your
competency assessor for ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
AND MAINTENANCE NCII.
 I would like to acknowledge the presence of our
Assessment Manager, Miss Vecinta Ann Mantuhac
Russel, our Processing Officer, Mr. Bong Martin Silab
and TESDA Representative, d0nt worry about their
presence, they are here to oversee if the Conduct of
Competency Assessment is in accordance with the
procedures and methodologies of TESDA, and they
are not here to assess you.

 Kindly submit your admission slip, please.. As I call


your name please acknowledge and sign the
attendance sheet.
 I have here w/ me your accomplished application
form w/ Self-Assessment Guide, this is an indication
that you can perform all units of competency
enumerated in ELETRICAL INSTALLATION AND
MAINTENANCE NCII.

4) Conduct Orientation
 I would like to welcome all of you to our
assessment center in ELECTRICAL
INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE NCII, this
assessment is to determine the level of your
competency that you have.
 There are three Qualification or Units of
competency to be assessed, the BASIC,
COMMON and the CORE Competencies.
 FOR THE CORE COMPETENCIES THERE ARE FIVE.

I. PERFORM ELECTRICAL POWER AND


HYDRAULIC TOOLS.
II. PERFORM ROUGHING-IN ACTIVITIES FOR
COMMUNICATIONS & DISTRIBUTION
SYSTEM.

III. INSTALL WIRING DEVICES FOR FLOOR AND


GROURD FAULT CURRENT INTERUPTING
OUTLETS.
IV. INSTALL ELECTRICAL PROTECTION
SYSTEM FOR LIGHTING AND GROUNDING

V. INSTALL ELECTRICAL LIGHTING SYSTEMS


ON AUXILIARY OUTLETS AND LIGHTING
FIXTURES

5. TASK TO BE PERFORMED AND EVIDENCE TO BE


COLLECTED
 I will collect evidence through Demonstration, oral
questioning and written test. This assessment
method can help measure your underpinning
knowledge and skills.

6) PERSONAL NEEDS
 For your personal necessities the comfort room is
located at the end of the hallway.
 If you want to take your meal, we have a canteen
outside the assessment center
 However, during the assessment, you are not
allowed to leave the premises of the assessment
center.

7) ALLOWABLE OR REASONABLE ADJUSTMENT WHEN


APPLICABLE
 If you have difficulty in understanding the given
instruction, please don’t hesitate to call my
attention because I am willing to explain and
translate it for you

8) DO’S AND DONTS DURING ASSESSMENT

 If you have concerns, questions and there’s a need


for you to clarification of this matter, concerning the
assessment you may asked now, and I am willing to
assist you. But once the assessment started please
refrain from asking questions it is no longer allowed.

9) Rights and Appeal system

 In case you have any question regarding the


assessment result you have the right to appeal, you
can submit your appeal to the TESDA Provincial
Office, or to the assessment center, and the assessor
are accredited.

10) ISSUANCE OF NC/COC


 If you have passed the assessment and you are
competent, For the issuance of National Certificate
you can claim it at the Provincial Office after 5
working days.

11) REASSESSMENT PROCEDURE

 If you’ve found, not yet competent, don’t worry


about it, you can be reassessed anytime at your own
convenience.
 In case the reassessment in full qualification you
have, to undergo the whole assessment process.
 If found you to be competent in some unit of
competencies the reassessment will just focused on
the unit of competencies that you are found to be
NOT YET COMPETENT
 IF you fail 2 consecutive assessments, you are
advised to take a refresher course before applying
for reassessment.

12)OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY


REQUIREMENTS
 For OHS, Kindly observed proper topping and
connecting live wire, if in case accident occur, please
call my attention right away so that proper first aid
will be administered. In case you need a first aid, we
have a first aide cabinet at the right side of the
hallway
13)CONFIDENTIALITY OF ASSESSMENT OUTCOMES
 With the result of your assessment, we observe
strict confidentiality this is to ensure your integrity,
this result is only made available to the right
personnel and to the institution were had your
actual training.
 In relation to this, the assessment package is placed
in the secured place, to guarantee the integrity of
the assessment package.
 Please don’t giving any form of information that
took place in the assessment process?

14) PROVIDE EACH CANDIDATE OF A COPY OF


“SPECIFIC INSTRUCTION TO THE CANDIDATE”

 If you don’t have any questions or clarification, then


I am going to give you a copy of “Specific
Instruction@ please read them carefully, if you
have any questions, please asked it now. I may be
able to translate it to English to your local dialect. If
you need assistance, I will be more than willing to
assist you.

15)ASSIGN NUMBERS TO THE CANDIDATE.


 YOU ARE CANDIDATE 1, CANDIDATE 2, CANDIDATE 1
PLEASE PROCEED TO THE ASSESSMENT AREA WHILE
OTHER CANDIDATES YOU MAY STAY HERE.

16)COLLECT THE EVIDENCE AND MAKE THE


ASSESSMENT DECISION
 To stimulate the assessment process, 2 candidates
will be shown performing the same task. 1
candidate will represent being competent while the
other is not yet competent.
IV. C1 this is your assessment area, were you are
going to PERFORM, ROUGHING-IN ACTIVITIES
FOR
COMMUNICATIONS & DISTRIBUTION
SYSTEM.
 Have you read the “Specific Instruction once more”?
Do you have any questions; you may have asked it
now. When assessment starts, you can no longer
asked. Please be informed after the demonstration
there will be oral questioning.
 Ok you may begin.
Note do the same to C2.
Note:
 Conduct assessment in accordance
w/methodologies specified in the Evidence Plan and
the Specific Instruction for the Competency Assessor
 Implement the evidence gathering process and
ensure its validity, reliability, fairness and flexibility
 Observe the candidate and keep notes of the
candidate’s performance during the entire conduct
of the assessment
 This note will be used for the provision of feedback
to the candidate’s performance.
 Collect appropriate evidence and match
compatibility to the elements, performance criteria,
range of variables and evidence guide in the
relevant unit of competency
 Judge the evidence in terms of the dimension of
competency, task skills, task management skills,
contingency management skills and job or role
environment skills
 Judge the evidence in terms of validity, consistency,
currency, authenticity and sufficiency.

17) After the demonstration, will proceed to oral


questioning.
18) Record on Rating Sheet details of evidence
collected and judgement made about the candidate’s
performance.
19) Provide FEEDBACK
 POSITIVE FEEDBACK. Candidate 1. How are the
assessment? My observation coincides with your
opinion, you were able to answer all oral
questions correctly, that includes your written test
result, but there are areas of improvement such as
the Splicing or Connecting the wire correctly. Overall
you are competent. Please sign the CARS. And your
Rating Sheet. You may claim your NC/COC at the
TESDA Provincial Office after 5 working days.

 NEGATIVE FEEDBACK: Be positive without raising


falls expectations suggest further learnings and
practice to fix the gaps…………………Candidate2. How
was the assessment? Please sign this CARS and
Rating sheets, if you are not satisfied with the result
of this assessment you may file a complaint or an
appeal to the TESDA provincial office, where your
Assessor and Training Center are accredited. Do you
