 Apparatus

 Green Sand- material that will be test on this experiment.

 Stopper – use to remove green sand from the cylinder.

 Cylinder tube and end cap – use as mould to compact the sand.
 Permeability test – use to test the permeability of the sand that compacted.

 Digital Scales – use to weight the green sand between 145g – 175g.

 Filter funnel – used to transfer green sand from scale tray in the cylinder tube.
 Sand Rammer – used to ram the sand in the cylinder tube to be compact.

 Vanier Calliper – to measure the height of the specimen.

 Brush- use to clean the apparatus from the sand.


 Strength test machine - use to test the strength of the green sand.
 Industry Apparatus.

 Automated Gas Permeameter - measure the permeability of core specimens with 1.5 inch
diameter and up to 4 inch length.

 Universal testing Machine. - designed for test the tensile strength and compressive
strength of material.
 Experimental Procedure.

1. The green sand was weighted on scale the weight must be between 145g-175g.

2. The green sand was poured in the cylinder tube using filter funnel.

3. Ramming the sand using sand rammer.


4. After compress the sand, we did a permeability test using permeability test machine and
record the value shown by the machine.

5. Push the compacted green sand out from the cylinder using stopper.
6. Put the sand on the strength test machine to test the green sand strength under force.

7. Record the data that shown by the strength machine scale.
