PROPOSAL FOR LEARNING ACTION CELL SESSIONS

September 2019

I. RATIONALE

In line with the implementation of Republic Act No. 10533, or the Enhanced Basic
Education Act of 2013, the Department of Education (DepEd) issues the enclosed policy on The
Learning Action Cell (LAC) as a K to 12 Basic Education Program School-Based Continuing
Professional Development Strategy for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning.
Through this policy, the DepEd fully supports the continuing professional development of
its teaching personnel based on the principle of lifelong learning and DepEd’s commitment to
the development of teacher’s potential aimed towards their success in the profession. This can
be done through the school-based LAC, which primarily functions as professional learning
community for teachers that will help them improve practice and learner achievement.
Saludares-Cali Elementary School of Dingras District I, Dingras, Ilocos Norte recognizes
that the quality of learning is greatly influenced by the quality of teaching. SCES will be
conducting LAC Sessions every Thursday in the afternoon. LAC session is absolutely
necessary to share the needs and challenges encountered by the teachers in an every
teaching-learning situations and how to solve this problems instantly.

II. OVERVIEW

The school-base LAC provides an avenue to teachers to learn from one another
through interactive discussion and lecture with regards to the topics being discussed a way in
making and designing learning activities that will improve the teaching-learning process which is
being spearheaded by the school head as the LAC leader. LAC sessions will be conducted
every Thursday (September 5, 12, 19, 26, 2019) at 3:00 in the afternoon at Saludares- Cali
Elementary School. This LAC session on the utilization of ZIPGRADE will discourse about the
advantage of using this quick assessment tool.
School based Learning Action Cell is a venue for teachers to share experiences, to
cope up with a common action towards a situation and to share one’s best practices for a better
teaching-learning atmosphere.
