At the end of the lesson the students will be

1. Identify the main idea of the story


and the main characters;

2. Share their life experiences in


related to the story; and

3. Apply the moral of the story

Topic: “A Worn Path” By: Eudora Welty
Reference: Teaching of Literature, Handout
Materials: Printed picture, LCD TV, Laptop,
Power point presentation, Manila Paper,
Pentel Pens
Skill Focus: Writing, Speaking, Reading
Value Focus: Valuing
Teaching Strategy: Discussion, questioning
III. Procedural Activities
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayers
2. Greetings
3. Checking of attendance
4. Collecting of assignments
5. Review of past lesson
B. Motivation
Questions:
1. What can you say about the picture?
2. Who do you remember when you saw the
picture?
3. Does this kind of moment do really exist in
real life? How do you say so?
C. Lesson Proper
Questions:
1. What can you say about Phoenix Jackson’s
character in the story?
2. How do you think Phoenix Jackson
conquer all those challenges in her way?
3. What kind of moral did you get from the
story of Phoenix Jackson?
D. Application
Instructions:
Pick a word that suits to describe Phoenix Jackson
and create an illustration of that word. A simple
drawing will do. After that choose a representative
on each group that will present your work and explain
why that word symbolizes the character of Phoenix
Jackson and why you chose that kind of illustration.
E. Generalization

Explaining the moral of the story and


what does the writer says about the main
character of the story ---- Phoenix Jackson.
F. Evaluation
Question:
If you were Phoenix Jackson, will
you do the same for your loved
one? Make a stand of your answer.
IV. Assignment
“Write an essay reflection about
the story “A Worn Path” By: Eudora
Welty. (Minimum of 5 sentences)”
