Calibration Procedure
Calibration Procedure
1. Ensure that the normally closed hydraulic line bypass valve from the ratchet line to the main
hydraulic is opened and the normally open manual valve at the hydraulic self sequencing ratchet
is closed on the unit in the field.
2. On the HMI, got to Master Select and select Off mode.
3. Ensure the Hydraulic ratchet pump is switched on either by Jogging the pump or forcing L4HR to
1 in the logic forcing window.
4. If also calibrating the SRV, then also force L4_XTP to 0 and L20FG1X to 1
5. Confirm hydraulic pressure at the hydraulic pressure gauge on the unit in the site (should be at
least 70 bar)
6. To open the Auto calibrator application, go to My Computer, then to G:/ drive, then to Exec
folder and then click on Autocal.exe
7. When Autocal opens, select Gas Ratio valve if calibrating SRV, or Gas Control Valve if calibrating
the GCV, or Inlet Guide Vanes if calibrating the IGV. (Select only one per time)
8. After selecting, click on ENABLE COMMANDS
9. After the full command options are displayed, click on the ENABLE MANUAL option.
10. Then Click on MANUAL POINT and enter a manual value of desired actuation to test the
movement of the valve i.e 0% or 10% or 100% and click Enter. The Required Position value
should change to reflect the manual value entered and the Actual value should also change to
the value of the required position or something close to indicate the actuation of the valve in the
field.
11. To proceed to calibrate, Click on START CALIBRATION
12. After it has finished calibrating, indicating Calibration Finished at the base of the application,
copy out the LVDT values for LVDT1 and LVDT 2 at 0% and 100% for R, S & T.
13. Compute the median of the RST values for each LVDT at both 0% and 100%.
14. Then open the IO Configurator. To do this, Go to Start > Programs > Turbine Control Maintenance
> Unit 1 > IO Configurator
15. Then click on the <Q> CONFIGURATION MENU
16. Click on the TCQA Analog cards
17. Click on NEXT SCREEN till you get to Servo Output 1 (used for SRV) or Servo Output 2 (used for
GCV) or Servo Output 5 (used for IGV)
18. Then on whatever screen you select based on the servo valve(s) you are calibrating at that time,
enter the median values of the LVDT 1 and LVDT at the 0% and 100% positions in the appropriate
fields as indicated in the IO Configurator screen.
19. Click on the Verify Screen target and then click on the Exit Card Def target to return to the <Q>
configuration menu. Click on the List Screens target (to produce a new I/O configuration printout
file), then click on the List Parms target (to create a new I/O configuration parameter file), and
then click on the Save Changes target to exit the I/O Configurator and save the changes to the
downloadable I/O configuration file.
20. Access the EEPROM downloader to download the new I/O configuration constants file to the
Mark V <Q> control processors. To do so, go to Start > Programs > Turbine Control maintenance
> Unit1 > command Prompt
21. You will see F:/ then type eeprom down t1 r iocfg and press Enter. Repeat this process replacing
“r” with “s” and then again replacing “s” with “t”.
22. Afterwards, type exit and press Enter.
23. Then go to the Panel and reset the RST Controllers one at a time waiting till it returns to the A7
mode before resetting the other one.
24. Return the SRV to its normal resting position in small increments so as not to slam the valve
shut. Disable manual stroking of the SRV by clicking the IDLE ABORT on the Autocal application.
25. Unforce the logics forced before calibration and stop the hydraulic ratchet pump and return the
manual hydraulic line valves on the unit to their normal positions.
