in Physical Education for Grade 9

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. state the nature of active recreation;
b. explain the importance of active recreation in maintaining an active lifestyle; and
c. make a plan on how to utilize their daily free time for recreation.

III. Teaching Procedure


A. Preparation
1. Daily Routines
a. Prayer

2. Review of the Previous Lesson
What did we tackle last meeting?
Tell us something about Festival dances.
3. Motivation
The class is divided into two groups. They are to play a game entitled “Word Shuffle’’.
Each group has to accomplish the twisted text assigned to them within 3 minutes. The first group
to accomplish the task wins the game and will be given additional points in their quiz.

B. Presentation of the Lesson


Task 1. The class is presented pictures of recreational activities. They are to explain what
the pictures mean to them.
Task 2. Discussion
The students are involved in the discussion.
1. Recreation is a voluntary participation in an activity during free and unobligated
time that gives enjoyment. It refreshes one’s mind and body after a day’s work.
Recreation embraces both indoor and outdoor activities that refer to sports and
exercise leading to the attainment of enjoyment as well as managing our desired
weight.

Direction: Each student is to fill up a matrix in a sheet of paper on what recreational activities
they want to add in their daily living.
