A. Reviewing previous lesson or SPELLING BEE
presenting the new lesson The teacher will start their lesson with spelling bee followed by the review of
last week’s lesson. (5 mins.)
B. Establishing a purpose for the Introduction:
lesson A definition is an explanation of the meaning of a certain word or phrase.
An expanded definition, also called an extended definition, is used when a
certain term needs to be explained with much detail. We all tend to think that
the answer for what a word means can be found in any dictionary, but it’s really
not quite that simple, because words also carry personal meanings and
connotations for different people.
C. Presenting examples/Instances of Preliminary Activity:
the new lesson Answer the following questions. Then write them in the boxes below. After
completing the answers, find the mystery word which is composed of ten
letters.
HINT: It refers to a word’s meaning.

leader? Are your definitions connotatively or denotatively defined?
