3.0 Wind Loads

The design wind pressures for elements of the structure are determined by the
applicable velocity pressure, considering the correction coefficient for height, and
multiplied by the applicable pressure coefficient as given by NSCP. Considering the
basic wind speed of 250 kph and for exposure C, the design wind pressure shall be
determined in accordance with the following formula:

Kz = Velocity pressure exposure coefficient
Kzt = Topographic factor; 1.00
Kd = Wind directionality factor; 0.85

4.0 Earthquake Forces

4.1 Static Force Procedure

The design base shear shall be computed as:

T = Elastic fundamental period of the structure in the
` direction under consideration

Method A

Method B

Where the value of T from method B shall not be over 30 percent greater
than the value of T obtained from method A in Seismic Zone 4 and 40
percent in Seismic Zone 2.

The total force shall be distributed over the height of the building in
conformance with the following:

Where:

Ft = 0.07 TV < 0.25v


Note: Ft may be considered zero if T is less than or equal to 0.70 sec.

V = Ft + Σ Fi
hi, hn, hx = height of the structure in meters above the base level to level i,

wi = Portion of W which is located at or assigned to level I
g = Acceleration due to gravity
Fi = Lateral force applied to level I
W = Total dead load

The design storey shear in any storey shall be distributed to the various elements
of the lateral force-resisting system in proportion to their rigidities assuming that
the lateral force acts at the center of mass and center of rigidity.

5.0 Basic Load Combinations

U = 1.4D
U = 1.2D + 1.6L + 0.5Lr
U = 1.2D + 1.6Lr + f1L
U = 1.2D + 1.0W + f1L + 0.5Lr
U = 1.2D + 1.0E + f1L
U = 0.9D +1.0W
U = 0.9D +1.0E

1. Material Strengths

1.0 Concrete – The minimum cylinder compressive strengths of concrete at


28 days period are as follows:
1.1 For columns, beams, suspended slabs, & other structural walls
(From Ground Level up to Roof Level) F’c = 35.00 MPa.

1.2 Footings & Tie Beams F’c = 35.00 MPa.
(5,000 psi.)
1.3 Stairs F’c = 35.00 MPa.
(5,000 psi.)

1.4 For the slab on fill, stair on fill, Ramp on fill F’c = 20.68 MPa.
(3,000 psi.)

2.0 Reinforcing Steel shall be deformed bars conforming to ASTM 615;

2.1 For bars 20mm diameter and higher Fy = 415 MPa.


(60 ksi.)
2.2 For bars 16mm diameter and smaller Fy = 276 MPa.
(40 ksi.)
2.3 For Low-relaxation, stress-relieved, Fpu= 1860 MPa.
High-strength, seven-wire strand (270 ksi.)

3.0 Structural Steel

3.1 All steel sections, bars and plates shall be Fy = 248 MPa.
A36 steel, (36 ksi.)
3.2 All bolts should be A325 Steel

Allowable Tension Ft = 275 MPa.


(40 ksi.)
Allowable Shear, with threads in Shear Plane Fv = 150 MPa.
(22 ksi.)

3.3 Welding electrodes shall be E70xxx Fy = 340 MPa.


(49 ksi.)

4.0 Foundation

The allowable soil bearing pressure is 8,360 psf (400 kPa) based on the
Geotechnical Report prepared by Geotesting, Inc.
