Method Statement For Road And Pavement Work
1.0Introduction
The method statement is prepared to ensure the reduce level and thickness of each
pavement formation layer as per construction drawings.
2.0Machineries
a) The final formation layer of subgrade shall be compacted in two layer of 150mm each
with not less than 95% and 100% of MDD respectively for cohesive material and
cohesiveless material.
b) The reduce level top of subgrade shall be checked before receiving the subbase
aggregates by using control / dipping pegs, set out at regular interval along both sides
of the embankment.
c) The top of subgrade shall be shaped and compacted with gradient of 2.5% left and
right side of embankment.
a) The subbase material shall be 2” size of Type A crushed aggregate and placed over
the full width of the formation subgrade layer to 250mm compacted thickness.
a) The final reduce level and alignment of roadbase shall be surveyed by using the same
control / dipping pegs before laying of prime coat and preparation of laying asphaltic
concrete layer.
b) A thin layer of low viscosity liquid bituminous material is applied at top of roadbase
using a mechanical sprayer with 0.7litre/m2. The main purpose is to seal in the
capillary voids of the porous surface, bind together all the loose materials particles
and create a base bonding layer with asphaltic concrete of wearing course.
c) Prior to laying asphaltic concrete, the marshal test report shall submit to consultant
for approval.
d) The paving width shall be as per construction drawings and set by steel peg with
horizontal arms which allows and supports a taut string line for the elevation control.
a) The design level of each top subgrade, subbase and roadbase shall be survey and
checked by using dipping forms. It shall be carried out every 20m or follow the
chainnage of the construction drawings.
b) The wooden peg shall be set up at both side of the road embankment and mark the
reduce level of each subgrade and pavement course layer. The survey dipping shall be
recorded with attached dipping forms, with split into road centre of 0m, then left and
right side of pavement with 0.5 / 0.25 pavement width with calculated design level
including the road gradient of 2.5%. after that the actual survey data shall compare
with the design road level.
