GE Treadmill 2000 Installation Instruction
PN 2021403-028
Tools Required
To install the Series 2000 Treadmill, you will need the following tools:
Multi-meter
Standard hand-tools
Allen wrench (included with treadmill)
Carpenter’s level
9/16 or 15 mm Socket wrench
Installation Checklist
The Installation Checklist is provided as a tool for the field engineer to use as
the installation procedures are followed. The procedures in this instruction
MUST be followed and completed in the order in which they are written and
appear. DO NOT rely on this Installation Checklist for proper installation of
the Series 2000 Treadmill.

NOTE
For proper and safe operation of the treadmill, ensure the power source is
clean.
Equipment Assembly
The Series 2000 Treadmill ships completely assembled except for the handle set
and the emergency stop switch.
2. Remove the screws on the shroud back and remove the back panel and
visually inspect the following:
a. Drive Belt
b. Motor Mount
c. Harnasses
d. Elevation Rack
5. Place the assembled front handrail into the metal mounting brackets on the
front corners of the shroud. Using the supplied Allen wrench and four bolts,
secure the handrail to the brackets.
6. Place the assembled side rails into the side mounting holes and screw in the
two bolts on each side. Refer to the drawing below for designation of right
side and left side handrails.

7. Attach the side rails to the front rail with the mated T-brackets. Tighten the
two T-bracket bolts with the Allen wrench.
8. Make sure all screws and bolts are seated properly and no sharp edges are
present.

2. Position the clamps around the treadmill front handrail and secure with the
supplied screw and nut. The emergency stop switch can be mounted in
different locations and positions based on customer preference.
3. Connect the cable from the emergency stop switch to the mating connector on
the treadmill’s rear connector panel.
4. Use the cord clips to attach the cable along the front handrail and secure the
excess cable.
If you are moving the treadmill after it has been in operation, use the controlling
equipment to set the grade to approximately 7%. Then remove power and
disconnect all cables to the treadmill before moving the unit.
NOTE
We recommend the treadmill not be placed on carpet or carpet tile floors as a
final location, as continual movement of the wheels may eventually damage
the carpet and possibly the treadmill.
WARNING
INJURY OR DAMAGE — The treadmill is too heavy to
lift, lower or move safely by one person. Serious bodily
injury or damage to the treadmill may result.
1. Lift the end of the bed assembly to about knee height, keeping knees bent
and back straight as you lift.
2. Rotate the treadmill in the direction you want to go (the treadmill will pivot
on its wheels) and push forward.
014
3. When you have maneuvered the treadmill into its new location, gently lower
the end of the bed assembly to the floor.

3. If the measurements are significantly out of range, check for breaks in the
power cord or in the internal connections within the unit.
4. Make sure all screws on the handles are well secured.
Calibration
To activate the Series 2000 Treadmill self-calibration feature, do the following:
WARNING
POWER CABLES — Route the AC Power cable away
from moving parts.
NOTE
Make sure you unlock the emergency stop switch.
3. Remove the plate covering the service port on the rear panel of the treadmill.
4. Remove controlling device (CASE, MTC-1) cable or turn off the controlling
device.
5. Below the service port are two prongs (pins). Place a screwdriver between the
two self-calibration prongs to short the circuit and activate the self-
calibration software. The software calibrates the speed and grade from the
minimum points to the maximum points.
6. Make sure you turn the Series 2000 treadmill power off before you proceed to
the next section.
3. If the treadmill is uneven, adjust the feet at the rear of the treadmill until it
is stable.
For stability, use one shim of the right thickness (rather than several thin
shims) to achieve the proper level.
4. If you cannot level the treadmill safely with shims, move the treadmill to
another location.

WARNING
INJURY TO PERSON — Keep hands, hair, jewelry, and
loose clothing away from moving parts. Do not place feet
under treadmill during elevation changes. Otherwise,
serious injury could result.
1. Attach the appropriate controller cable from the stress system or MTC-1 and
the AC power cable. Use the supplied interface cable to connect the Series
2000 treadmill to the host (i.e., CASE, MTC-1).
2. Use the controlling equipment to terminate the exercise session and turn off
the treadmill.
WARNING
MOVING PARTS — Keep hands, hair, jewelry and loose
clothing away from moving parts.
1. Use the controlling equipment to set the belt speed to 4 or 5 miles per hour (7
or 8 kilometers per hour).
To correct a belt that tracks to the left, turn the left pulley adjustment screw
CLOCKWISE in 1/8-turn increments until the belt tracks in the center. Wait
2 or 3 minutes between each 1/8- turn to allow the belt position to stabilize.
NOTE
Make adjustments to the pulley screws in small increments. Over
adjustments and repeated tightening of the screws can cause too much
tension on the belt.
013
Cables
Tie down cables to ensure they do not get caught in the wheels on the elevation
racks.

Check Calibration
Can the unit elevate? (1) Remove shroud and inspect for any
mechanical causes.
Can the belt move with power? (1) Is the Emergency Stop Switch locked? If
yes, unlock.
Check Emergency Stop Switch If belt does not stop, make sure emergency
stop switch is connected to back of treadmill.
Call tech support.
Can Host control elevation and speed ? (1)Turn on and configure Host system. Turn
on Treadmill. At Treadmill power up, listen for
treadmill beep. If no beep, tighten interface
cable between host and treadmill.
Squealing or Grinding
(1) Check drive motor and elevation motor.
Rhythmic Rubbing
Check that walking board is not higher than
the level of the top surface of end rollers.
Was Leakage Test performed by Biomed and Request Biomed to perform Leakage Test.
did it pass. Contact Tech Support.
Check Handles
To ensure patient safety, check to make sure the right and left side rails are
secure by giving the side bolts on each side another turn with the screwdriver.
Leakage Test
The leakage tests are safety tests to ensure that the equipment poses no
electrical health hazards.
Before you leave the installation site, recommend to the biomed to perform a
complete system leakage test after the Series 2000 Treadmill has been connected
to the host device. Refer the biomed to the host device service manual for
instructions on performing the appropriate leakage tests.
