FRTOL

The FRTOL (Flight Radio Telephony Operators License) is issued by the DGCA in India based on a license from the WPC. It is mandatory for all commercial and airline pilots and allows them to use radio equipment on any Indian-registered aircraft. There are two types of FRTOL - Restricted, which only permits use of VHF frequencies over 60MHz, and Unrestricted, which allows use of HF frequencies below 60MHz and is required for CPL and ATPL certification. The FRTOL costs approximately Rs. 1 lakh which is included in most pilot training programs in India, along with a Rs. 5,000 fee charged by the DGCA.

> AND FRTOL IS MANDATORY FOR ALL THE COMMERCIAL AND AIRLINE PILOTS .
> BECAUSE LEGALLY YOU CANNOT FLY WITHOUT THIS LICENSE.

NO 1 FRTOL - RESTRICTED
NO 2 FRTOL - UN RESTRICTED.
FRTOL - RESTRICTED FRTOL - UNRESTRICTED

VALIDITY :- 10 YEARS VALIDITY - 5 YEARS


> AND WHAT DOES RESTRICTED MEAN IN FRTOL. IT MEANS YOU ONLY HAVE PRIVILAGE TO
USE ONLY (VHF) - VERY HIGH FREQUENCY ABOVE 60 MHz . BUT AERONAUTICAL COMMUNICA-
-TION USES THE (HF)' - HIGH FREQUENCY WHICH IS BELOW 60 MHz . SO TO OPERATE THESE
YOU NEED TO OBTAIN FRTOL ( UN RESTRICTED ). AND FOR ISSUE OF CPL AND ATPL ISSUE
YOU NEED TO HAVE FRTOL .

APPROX COST .
THIS COST IS ACTUALLY INCLUDED IN YOUR CPL TRAINING . YOU CAN CALL YOUR FLYING
SCHOOL AND CAN KNOW THE EXACT COST . BUT IN GENERAL IT COSTS AROUND 1 LAKH BUT
IT IS INCLUDED IN THE TRAINING . THIS COST INCLUDES ALL YOUR GROUND CLASSES , YOUR
STUDY MATERIAL , LICENSE ISSUE AND OTHER THINKS REQUIRED IN THIS .
AND FRTOL ISSUE COST IS CHARGED BY DGCA WHICH IS 5000 INR.
