Obatala Has The Ability To Find Peace and Joy

Obatala has the ability to remain peaceful even during stressful situations, not because bad things don't happen, but because he actively chooses peace. To be truly peaceful, one must be capable of violence but choose not to act violently. Obatala knows his own potential for destruction but believes peace is more difficult and important, preserving his energy and showing faith in the gods and ancestors to protect him when needed. The passage emphasizes that as practitioners of Ifa, we understand our interdependence and need for community, where cultivating one's own spirit contributes to the strength of all.

Obatala has the ability to find peace and joy, even when things aren’t quite going his

way.
Obatala is not peaceful because nothing bad ever happens to him but because he actively
chooses to be peaceful even in stressful situations.

In order to be a pacifist, one must be capable of great violence. If you’re not capable of
violence you’re not peaceful, you’re harmless.

Obatala knows what he’s capable of and that if he allows his peace to be disturbed, he could
potentially destroy this earth, and that it is much harder to build and repair than it is to
destroy. Choosing peace is a practice, and it’s not easy. But when we choose peace, we
preserve our own energy and also show faith in the Orisa and Ancestors to stand up to fight
for us and protect us.

Eeeepa Orisa!!!
The western mindset emphasizes individuality and competition. As Ifa practitioners we
understand that one hand cannot clap, one leg cannot run very far, one buttock cheek
cannot sit well on the mat. We need each other. And, importantly, we need to understand
how cultivating our own ori and every aspect of ourselves contributes to and helps ensure a
strong community. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
I pray to never be that weak link.
Let us immerse ourselves in the immense love and light of Orisa’nla today, tomorrow, and
always!
Ase…
Orisa Eeeepa!!!
