(1) Hydrogen fluoride (HF) has a higher boiling point than other hydrogen halides due to the strong bonding between hydrogen and fluorine atoms. Fluorine is much more electronegative than other halogen elements, polarizing and strengthening the HF bond. (2) The H-F bond is polar, with the hydrogen partially positive and fluorine partially negative. This leads to strong electrostatic attractions between HF molecules. (3) In contrast, hydrogen chloride and other hydrogen halides have weaker, less polar bonds between hydrogen and the other halogen elements.
