B. Objective: Distinguish the real and make-believe in given events or
statements.

INTRODUCTORY CONCEPT

As a reader, you have to know what is real and make-believe. Real is


something that would happen in real life while make-believe is something that
is not true or possible in real life.

Look at the pictures below, two geese flying is real because it happens in
real life. But, two geese flying with a turtle sticking is make-believe because it
does not happen in real life.

1PRACTICE TASK

Direction: Ask your mother to read the names and show the pictures to you,
then, tell whether the picture is real or just make-believe.

Direction: Ask your mother to read the phrases, then, color the box red if the
phrase is real, and blue if the phrase is make-believe.

Direction: Ask your mother to read the sentences for you. Then tell whether the
statement is real or make-believe.

ASSESSMENT

Direction: Ask your mother to read the text below for you, then write in the
columns provided the real and make-believe statements.

Last night, I went into the small room. I walked onto to the dirty floor with my
magic flashlight. I looked under the bed. I found a yellow sock. Then I found a talking
lizard. He told me to look into the golden cabinet.
There, I found a singing spider. He sang a song about a huge cat. Next thing I
knew, I saw a flying cat outside the window. A tiny ant came up to me, and he said,
“That flashlight is making you see things.”
