At the delivery unit, positioning is performed as many times as the

4 number of gripper bars (7 times or more: varies depending on the
model and specifications).

a. Press the SAMPLING button. The warning bell sounds. Press

the button again to start positioning.

b. When the machine stops and the button starts flashing, open

Because the impression cylinders and transfer cylinders are double-

sized cylinders, perform positioning 4 times in total. Perform the
same work as that for the delivery unit. Positioning will not be
performed unless the button is pressed after the footboard between
the units is closed.

At the register unit, perform positioning 2 or 3 times in total. (3 times

for GL40, 2 times for GL44)
Perform the same work as that for the delivery unit.
Only for the first time, grease lubrication is performed at the
operation side. After the lubrication is completed, close the
footboard and the register acrylic cover, and then press the button.
From the second time and after, lubrication is performed on the
drive side.
When positioning at all locations is completed, a long audible
6 warning sounds, and the grease lubrication mode automatically

Nip check mode

Overview
This function is programmed so that the specified positioning works are automatically performed only by
simple button operations for the purpose of reducing the length of time for each operation of the press
machine maintenance.

Configuration

1. Plate-Form Roller Nip Check: Print Mode

• Automatically prints the plate surface nip width of each form roller on to a sheet of paper and delivers
the sheet to the delivery unit.

2. Plate-Form Roller Nip Check: Manual Mode

• Automatically transfers the plate surface nip width of each form roller on to the plate and rotates it to the
designated check position.
• Check the nips transferred on to the plate by opening the safety cover and using the INCH and
REVERSE INCH buttons.

3. Form Roller-Oscillation Roller Nip Check: Print Mode

• Automatically transfers the nip width of each form roller and oscillating roller on to the plate surface.
• The nips are transferred twice separately in the respective sets of the II and IV oscillation rollers, and the
I and III oscillation rollers, and then the sheets are delivered to the delivery unit.

4. Form Roller-Oscillation Roller Nip check: Manual Mode

• Automatically transfers the nip width of each form roller and oscillating roller on to the plate surface and
rotates it to the designated check position.
• The nip is transferred separately once for each setting: II/1V oscillation and I/III oscillation. Check the
nips transferred on to the plate by opening the safety cover and using the INCH and REVERSE INCH
buttons.
Because it is necessary that ink be remaining on the form roller, it is recommended that this be performed
after the completion of a job. Note that the plate cannot be reused after the check since ink is applied to the
plate surface. Please be aware.

The thickness of the sheet used for the print check mode should be 0.1 mm or more (coated). Note that
sheets may be caught by the blanket depending on the type of the sheet used.

If the thickness of the sheets used for the print check is 0.25mm or more, ink from other units may adhere on
the trailing edge of the sheets.

With a perfecting unit with UV specifications (with a dryer unit), when executing the nip check mode of the
printing unit before perfecting in the print mode with the press machine in the perfecting state, activate the
dryer unit in order to prevent ink transfer onto the impression cylinder after perfecting.

Blanket Surface Check Mode 1-2

Specification overview
Blanket surface check mode automatically performs the work for solid-printing the whole surface of a sheet at
each unit in order to perform a simplified check of the following items.
• Partial indentation in the blanket
• Remaining image patterns when UV ink is used

1. It is recommended that this check be performed after a print job is completed or when switching is performed.

2. Because this is performed with the dampening form roller disengaged, the printing plate cannot be reused
after the check.
Use a printing plate that can be thrown away when performing this check.

3. The recommended sheet thickness is 0.20 to 0.25 mm (coated).

If a thinner sheet is used, ink may adhere on the impression cylinder. If a thicker sheet is used, ink from other
units may adhere on the sheet trailing edge.

4. To secure the maximum area to be checked, use a sheet of the maximum size.

5. After completing the check, perform blanket cleaning.

When using thin sheets, do not use wood-free sheets, special sheets, or other similar sheets. Otherwise the
sheet may be caught by the blanket.

If the ink rollers have an extremely large amount of ink, the sheet may be caught by the blanket. After ink
cleaning, perform Pre-inking P1.

With a perfecting unit with UV specifications (with a dryer unit), when executing the blanket surface check
mode of the printing unit before perfecting with the press machine in the perfecting state, activate the dryer
unit in order to prevent ink transfer onto the impression cylinder after perfecting.
