LESSON PLAN FOR WEEK [2] ENDING [23-09-

2022]

SUBJECT: TECHNICAL DRAWING


TOPIC: SAFE WORKINH HABITS
TIME: 40 MINUTES
SCHEDULE: 8:10-9:32
AVERAGE AGE: 14 YEARS
LEVEL: SS1
NUMBER OF LEARNERS: 7

TIME TABLE FIT: In the previous lesson, the learners had learnt about the meaning of
technical drawing, its importance, the drawing materials and equipment in technical drawing
and their uses.

MAIN AIM: The learners will be able to determine the various safety precaution and safe
working habits which need to be observed in the technical drawing studio.

SUBSIDIARY AIMS: By the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to
1. Determine some of the safety precautions that needs to be adhered to when handling drawing
instruments.
2. Illustrate some of the healthy working habits that learners need to integrate into their daily
life while drawing

PERSONAL AIM: To ensure that the learners fully understand the various safety precaution
and safe working habits which need to be observed in the technical drawing studio.

ASSUMPTION: The leaners may have seen or heard about the various safety precaution and
safe working habits which need to be observed in the technical drawing studio from their
textbook or online.

ANTICIPATED PROBLEM: The learner may find it difficult to understand some of the
various safety precaution and safe working habits which need to be observed in the technical
drawing studio.
MOTTO: MMFIDELIS IN MINIMIS MOTTO: FIDELIS IN MINIMIS
POSSIBLE SOLUTION: The teacher will have to explain extensively about the various safety
precaution and safe working habits which need to be observed in the technical drawing studio.

TEACHING MATERIAL: Drawing materials and equipment, Posters, Charts, Video clips
etc.

LEAD IN: Working safely and hygiene can involve changes in how art materials are selected
and how they are handled. Cleanliness and neatness in drawing work are very important
requirements. Definitely the seal of excellence of any technical draftsman.

PROCEDURE

STEP 1: SAFETY PRECAUTION (SAFE HANDLING AND MAINTAINING


DRAWING MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT)
Drawing board
1. Do not use the drawing board for any other purposes than for drawing
2. Do not use pins for fastening your paper to the board, use tapes or clips
3. The surface of the drawing board must be in good condition. Do not use sharp objects like
knife to cut on it
4. Always clean the drawing board before use
5. Cover drawing board surface with paper or cardboard after use.
6. Keep the drawing board in a safe place when not in use

Tee-square
1. Never use the tee-square as walking stick
2. Do not use pen-knife or blade along the edges of the tee-square.
3. Always hang your tee-square when not in use
4. The blade must be straight at angle 90° to the stock
5. Always clean the tee-square before using it

Compass and Divider


1. They must not be used for any other purposes other than their primary functions.
2. Do not use compass and dividers to hold paper
3. Do not use compass and divider to fight
4. When not in use, keep them away in a safe container

5. Do not use the needle point to punch holes

Set square, Protractor, French curve, and Scale rule/Meter rule


1. Do not place heavy load on them to prevent breakage
2. Do not use sharp objects to cut on their edges
3. Keep them away from fire
4. Do not use to fight
5. Always clean before use.
6. Store them in a safe place after use

Drawing pencils
1. Drawing pencil should be kept in a pencil packet after use
2. Pencil points must be pointed

Other instruments
All other instruments should be stored in a cupboard to prevent damage. A cupboard should be
made available for complete storage of the drawing boards and all other instruments

STEP 2: SAFE AND HEALTHY WORKING HABITS


The following are some safe and healthy working habits that should be incorporated in
the lives of a technical drawing student, they are:
1. Do not eat or drink from the work area (to avoid accidental indigestion).
2. Hands should be kept clean at all times during work.
3. Wash your hands thoroughly after working with soap and water.
4. Keep the work area clean and try to keep it in order.
5. All drawing instruments should be kept clean with a cloth or towel.
6. Identify the location of the extinguishers and the first aid box.
7. Notify your teacher of any health conditions or medications that may affect your work.
8. Always have adequate ventilation.
9. Have a brush or handkerchief to wipe away any debris from the eraser.
10.Never deliver a project with small perforations caused by the use of the compass.
11.Always try to have a natural light entrance at your work place.
12.When using the pencil sharpener, make sure your hands are clean and free from any trace of
graphite.
13.Never carry your work items into your mouth.
14.The pencil should always be kept sharp and should be used properly. It should be kept away
from the drawing sheet and other instruments.
15.Hand contact with the drawing sheet should be avoided.
16.Rubbing or erasure should be done correctly with a soft eraser.
17.If you wear long hair, you should try to pick it up so it does not interfere with the process of
drawing creation.

18.Try to have the least contact with the drawing in which you are working.
19.Before submitting your project, look for a second opinion from a colleague who gives you
his/her point of view regarding the hygiene of your drawing.
20.After finalizing your project, clean your work area, your instruments and always keep your
area flawless.

INTERACTION PATTERN: The use of explanatory, discussion, play-way, sketching,


teacher to learner and learner to learner method in her teaching method

STUDENTS’ EVALUATION:
1. Identify two drawing instruments in your surrounding and write out two safety precautions
for each drawing instrument.
2. Enumerate 5 safe and healthy working habits

TEACHER’S EVALUATION: The learners fully understood the safety precaution to adhere
to when handling drawing instruments and equipment and the safe and healthy habits, a
technical drawing student need follow by.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Prepare a poster showing some of the safety precaution needed to be adhered to when
handing drawing instruments.
2. Produce a poster of the safe and healthy working habits in technical drawing.

CONCLUSION: Technical drawing is important because it helps companies to visualize a


concept with which they can easily communicate a physical element for their production. Safety
standards are standards designed to ensure the safety of products, activities or processes which
improve and provide a safe and healthy workplace thereby preventing work-related injury and
ill health to workers.

BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE: PURPOSE: The word of God reveals God’s plan and purpose for
humanity (2 tim.3:16-17)
BIBLICAL INTEGRATED LESSON: By the end of the lesson, the learner will be able to
understand that just as the word of God is the book of the law which reveals God’s plan and
purpose for humanity so the safety precaution and safe working habits serve to guide the
students to see the plan and purpose of a safe work place and how it may affect our drawings.
